Hi I'm Sarah Cunningham

I'm a small town girl. I'm learning Portuguese. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the mountains of Northern California in a small town of about 3,500 people. I have two amazing parents, three brothers, and one sister. My family is the most important thing that I have. I love them so much and love to spend time with them. We have always been an outdoorsy kind of family. I grew up going hiking, fishing, camping, and swimming. We are a pretty athletic family as well. I played basketball and softball from about 3rd grade through high school, volleyball from 5th grade on, and ran track my senior year of high school. I love playing sports and being competitive. My best memories of high school come from experiences playing sports. However, the most influential thing in my life has been the church I’ve been raised in, and that is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am currently serving a mission for the Church. I will be going to the Brazil Juiz de Fora Mission, and I am very excited and humbled to be a servant for the Lord. Without the knowledge that I’ve gained through going to church every Sunday, going to seminary, and reading the Bible and Book of Mormon, I would be so lost. The Gospel keeps me rooted and focused on what’s most important in life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the church, and so that’s all I’ve ever known. I have always been a Mormon, but I have developed a personal testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the one true church upon the earth today. I have a testimony that Joseph Smith restored this gospel upon the earth and that the doctrine this church teaches is the same doctrine that Jesus Christ taught while he reigned on earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true book and is another testament of Jesus Christ. I also know that the Bible is the word of God. I love this Gospel and how it blesses me and my family. My name is Sarah, and I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

The high school I went to had about 400 students, 5 of which were Mormon including me, so living the Gospel was very challenging at times. How I found though that I live my faith by being an example for others. By being someone that others can lean on and find strength through if they need it. I am not perfect, but I tried to do what was right, and I know that my peers respected me for that and even counted on me to make the right choice. I know that people are always watching me and know what standards I live by and that helps motivate me to stay on the strait and narrow and be a good example.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Sarah Cunningham
God sent us here on earth to be in families. They are the most sacred and important social unit that we have on earth. Our families can create an atmosphere where we can learn, grow, come to know what true love is, and learn about Christ. Show more Show less
