Hi I'm Jay

I live in California. I've been in computers for 42 years. My wife and I have eight children. I became a convert at 27.

About Me

I live in California. I've been in computers for 42 years. My wide is a 3rd grade teacher. My wife and I have eight kids. I had two; she had four and we married and had two more. The oldest is 42 and the youngest is 18. the youngest is going on a church mission for two years this Summer. The second youngest is getting married this Fall. They are both going to college. We are remodeling our house ourselves.

Why I am a Mormon

During my wife's and my previous marriages, Mormon missionaries knocked on our doors separately and years apart from each other while we lived in the same town. My wife, unknowingly, already lived like a Mormon before she was introduced to the church. I wanted to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ after I met the church missionaries.

How I live my faith

I've worked at City Hall in Bakersfield, California for 26 years. We hardly ever miss going to church each Sunday. We try to be like Jesus every day, setting the example for our children and befriending our brothers and sisters of any faith and atheists throughout the world. I am a leader and teacher in the church. My wife teaches in the adult women's meeting. My Dad was Catholic and my mother was Lutheran. I've had considerable exposure with Baptists, Jews and Buddhists. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are Mormons.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Our successful marriage requires faith—both in God and faith in each other. Our faith in God is more than a theoretical belief in Him. To have faith in God is to trust Him, to have confidence in Him, and to be willing to act on our belief in Him. It is a principle of action. Shared faith in God is binding our marriage and family together in a commitment to common values. It lends us strength to overcome obstacles that might otherwise damage our important relationships. In successful marriages, couples trust each other. My wife and I strive to prove worthy of each other's trust. Any strong marital or family relationship must be based on mutual trust and trustworthiness. Faith in each other, like faith in God, helps us and our family face uncertainty and live up to high expectations. Show more Show less
