Hi I'm Steven Pounders

I grew up primarily Arizona. I am a saxophone player, BBQ enthusiast, outdoorsman, a scouter, a banker, a family man and a Mormon.

About Me

Hello my name is Steven Pounders. To introduce myself I am a father of 4 children, 3 girls and one boy. I have been married to my wonderful wife for 12 years. I work with the Venture scouts in my ward and I find it really rewarding. I have served in many callings over years and have remained active since my youth. I served a mission from 1997 to 1999 in the South Dakota Rapid City Mission. My life is quite interesting I am one part redneck, one part corporate suit, and 100% crazy. Our family works hard and plays hard. We do a lot of outdoors activities. I am an avid outdoors man and enjoy shooting sports. I play the saxophone and encourage my children's musical gifts as well. In our home we believe that we are first and foremost children of our Heavenly Father. As such we have an obligation to treat others we come in contact with love and respect. One of my favorite philosophies is, that we all have trials and struggles. Each person's trials have the same impact as another’s. It is not our job to say one person has more to struggle with than another. So it is not my job to judge what people are working with or going through instead it is my job to love and serve them the best I can. This is something my children learn and keep with them. I have a deep love for the Savior. I belive that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that as such we should strive to abide by his teachings and take every opportunity to come closer to him.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I have searched and prayed and felt the influence of the Holy Spirit confirming that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. I believe Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ visited the prophet Joseph Smith on a spring morning in 1820. The Book or Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I feel like the gospel helps me be a better father, husband, brother and friend.

How I live my faith

I am the Venture Crew Advisor for the young men age 16-18 in my ward.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Steven Pounders
From a global perspective one can truly see that church is a force for good in all corners of the globe. The church is indeed Heavenly Father's church as such this organization exists to bless all mankind not just its own members. As member of the church we are encouraged to be civically minded and to support our communities no matter where we reside. We are to build up and uplift those around us not just members of our faith.. Show more Show less
