Hi I'm Parker

I live in Wyoming. I went to college at BYU Hawaii. I am serving a mission in Guatemala. I like to golf. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a full time LDS missionary serving in Guatemala. At home, I like to golf, watch movies, and be involved in politics. I have been a Mormon my whole life and am the oldest child in my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that the Book of Mormon is a true and correct book. I believe that it was translated by Joseph Smith, a prophet of God. I also believe that we have a prophet on the earth today that is in constant communication with our Heavenly Father. I believe that I am a child of a God that loves me and knows me personally. I remain a member of this church because I can feel the Holy Spirit whenever I am in a church service, reading my scriptures, and praying. I am a Mormon because I have a testimony that this church is the true church of Jesus Christ, restored to the same structure and teachings that he established when he was on the earth. I don't know what I would do in life if it wasn't for this gospel

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing it with others. As a missionary I strive to follow Christ in every way that I can. I have served in many callings in the church and I often play the piano there on Sundays. I pray and study the scriptures often. I love the Book of Mormon and the teachings it contains, especially that of Jesus Christ's visit to the Americas.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Parker
No, but all young men are strongly encouraged to go, as well as retired seniors who have the resources to do so. Young women have the option, but do not have the same expectation placed upon them as do the young men. Missionary service is a treasured tradition in the LDS church. I, as well as thousands of other young men in the Church, choose to serve because we believe so strongly in what we teach. We choose to interrupt and/or postpone traditional schedules of education, marriage, and occupations in order to serve the Lord. We see this not as a burden or as a requirement, but as a blessing and opportunity to learn and grow in the gospel while helping others to do the same. Show more Show less
