Hi I'm Kara

Raised in California. Served a mission in the Philippines. Aspiring Court Interpreter. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Being born and raised in California was amazing. I'm the fifth of seven children. As an undergraduate student, I am proud to say that I've accomplished a lot with the time that I've been allotted thus far. Graduated in 2010 with my High School diploma and went on to study at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I am majoring in English with an emphasis of Literary studies where I can explore and analyze the creative minds of others. I lived internationally when I volunteered and served as a full-time proselyting missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Quezon City Philippines Mission. I learned and taught others in the language of Tagalog, picking up a a little Ilocano and Bisaya along the way. The people I met there have touched my life in remarkable ways. I've had the privilege of gaining a greater understanding and compassion for others. My passion for people and their unique stories. Knowing and understanding the perspective of others has helped me and continues to help me become a more well-rounded individual and inspires me to reach out to those who still have a story to tell.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my savior and being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I try to live my life with Him as the center of it. He paid the ultimate price for me, my family, friends, and every one of God's children. I understand the importance of my life here on earth and am so grateful for the Plan of Salvation and the knowledge of families being together forever. I have a firm belief in the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and will be forever grateful for Joseph Smith for having the willingness to do God's will and bring about the Book of Mormon. I love this Gospel. I love my family. And I love my savior.

How I live my faith

Especially during the Christmas season, I mull over what the true spirit of Christmas really is. I asked a friend once what it meant to her, “It’s about presents” she replied. This may be the typical response of children today, but I’d like to think that the majority of the population would respond with the mention of Christ. I pondered on how I could show my faith and belief in Him. I’ve come to the conclusion that Christ is the reason why I can be with my family for eternity. That was his never ending gift to me. My goal is to give a never ending gift in return. It’s hard to keep in contact with all the members of a big family, but I want to dedicate more of my time in reaching out to them. Hopefully, this will improve my relationships and show my gratitude for all the Savior has done for me.
