Hi I'm Ben Roberts

I´m Ben, I´m from Mayland, and I'm a student at BYU

About Me

Hey, I'm Ben. I grew up in Hagerstown Maryland for most of my life with two younger brothers and a younger sister. I enjoy playing soccer, ping-pong, swimming, basketball, watching sports, hanging out with friends, hiking and camping and pretty much anything as long as its with people i enjoy being around. I'm pretty easy going and I'm excited to go on a mission, go to college, get married and live a happy life. I really have no idea what i want to study but hopefully that will come to me after my mission to Argentina (Posadas).

Why I am a Mormon

Because it truly is the Church Of God that is on the earth today. Our church is organized the exact same way Christ's was when he was on the earth with apostles prophets and temples. Not coincidentally but because this is Christ's church. The Book of Mormon was written by prophets from the America's because God loved them as well and gave them guidance on how to live a happy life, centered around the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This church has a fantastic structure and just makes total sense to me. I really can't think of how it couldn't be true. The spirit has witnessed the truth of it to me and i hope to share that with others who are struggling on finding the truth.

How I live my faith

I was one of two other LDS kids in my high school for the majority of the time, one of them being my sister. I had tons of non-member friends who did not make good choices according to our standards but i still got along with them without participating in those things. I found by the end of senior year that i regretted hanging out with certain people and should have distanced myself away from them earlier. I tried to express our beliefs sometimes and was put in many situations where i could be an example by not drinking, smoking, doing drugs and basically choosing the right. I have no idea if my example changed anyone or if anyone even thought about it twice after seeing me make those decisions but hopefully it did. I invited four of my closest friends to church once and they came but never really expressed interest after that. I continue to read my scriptures, pray daily, attend church and other meetings, keep the sabbath day holy and choose the right the best i can.

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Ben Roberts
The power to Pro-Create was given to us by our loving Heavenly Father. This power is a power that he has also, because he created us in a spiritual sense and then gifted us with this power in the physical sense. This power should only be used within the bonds of lawful marriage to avoid issues such as single, struggling mothers, terrible situations for newborn children and unwanted pregnancies. Using this power that God has given us can strength the emotional bonds of a husband and wife. When we use this power spontaneously, while intoxicated or casually with those we are not lawfully wedded to, we are mis-using this power. It is inappropriate for us to use this sacred power whenever we want with whoever we want and then expect there to be no consequences. Sometimes unwanted pregnancies come about but this is not to our surprise. When we have sexual intercourse we know what we are getting into and we cannot choose the consequences for our actions. Abortion is not the way out and should not be used because we are killing an unborn baby with a spirit body inside it and never giving it a chance to live and experience mortality. Abortion is a mockery to God's sacred power and should only be used in cases of rape. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Ben Roberts
Being a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is super cool. There are a lot of guidelines that aren't really rules but rather helpful suggestions to help us live our lives healithier and happier. There are a lot of times where desiciones can be tough to make about whether to choose what is right or not but i can personally say that it is totally worth it and that living the Gospel of Jesus Christ has made me a happier, better person in general. So being a Mormon is awesome. Show more Show less
