Hi I'm Amy De

I'm a former homeschooler, a member of the Order of the Arrow, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Michigan and moved to Montana, where I found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a teenager. I love books and helping people, so it was natural for me to become an English teacher. I also love to write, research family history, and take photographs, which I share on my nature blog. Our family loves to scout and get out camping whenever we can.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was fourteen, I began studying the church teachings with my sister. At first I went simply to prove the missionaries wrong, but I could not deny the feeling of the Holy Ghost that was always present at our lessons. After much study and prayer, I took their challenge to find out for myself if what they were teaching me was true. I prayed to know and when I did, I felt the Holy Ghost sweep over me in an undeniable way, confirming for me that I had been learning truth. After that, I got baptized, and it has made all the difference in my life. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that the Book of Mormon he translated is the word of God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live the gospel of Jesus Christ every day. I try to serve others and be a friend. I share my beliefs with others. In my community I serve in two scout troops, and in the Order of the Arrow lodge, where I get to rub shoulders with my "scout family". At church, I teach in our women's organization, which I love. The ladies there always have the most inspiring stories to share about how they are trying to live the gospel of Jesus Christ.
