Hi I'm Beth

I am the eldest of five children. I am the mother of five children. I love my family and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of five beautiful children who fill my days with cooking, cleaning, washing, homework, laughing, playing, swimming, football, clubs, reading, bath time and everything else mums do in an average day. But I wouldn't change this for anything. This is what I have wanted to do since I was a young girl and although there can be times when it can be monotonous and exhausting, there are also times when I will look at my children and feel so overcome with love that I know it is all worthwhile. As well as all of the above I like to read, I like to spend time with my friends, I like to bake, I like writing in my journal, I like taking photos, I like to travel and explore places that I have never been before, even if its within the country I live in. There are so many beautiful places to visit and I love sharing these new experiences with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church all of my life, I was baptised when I was eight years old and still remember it as a very special time. That doesn't mean that I have never questioned what I had been taught by my parents. There came a time that I had to decide for myself what path my life would take and through prayer and study I was able to know for myself that this church was true. The teachings of the church just make so much sense to me and I have received many spiritual witnesses that have helped me gain a testimony. I know first and foremost that I am a daughter of God and that He loves me. After that everything else just falls into place, if I am a daughter of God, He must have a plan for me, He must have people on this earth who are authorised to give us direction, He must be able to hear my prayers and answer them. Why else would we be here? This also means that there must be something after this life and I truly believe there is. Through the gospel of Jesus Christ I believe that we can be with our families forever, not just this life. This gives me great joy, to know that I can be with the people who mean the most to me forever.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing all that I can to the best of my ability. I want to be like my Saviour, Jesus Christ, I want to be able to do what He would have me do. So I try my best to serve and love others. I have had many responsibilities within my local church, these have included teaching young children, teaching adults and getting the church involved in the local community. This was a very interesting role as I saw some perceptions people had about our church change as they saw how we served their community. Through service projects such as cleaning church graveyards, litter picking, planting flowers along a public bridleway, singing in old peoples homes, helping at schools and helping to check shoe boxes for children for Christmas, our church and its members have become appreciated and respected in the local community. Like it has been said before, the greatest sermons are lived not preached. In my current capacity I organise activities each month that help women to learn or perfect a skill. These classes have included bread making, sewing, knitting, cooking family meals, making your own Christmas gifts or practical advice for raising children. I have seen many women learn new skills from scratch and also watched some older and wiser women gain satisfaction from sharing their knowledge. Friendships are strengthened and women who are not of our faith have learned more about what we do as they have attended these classes. For me The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is about becoming better and becoming like Christ and that is what I strive to do.

What is the Law of Chastity?

The law of chastity means that sexual relations should only exist between a man and woman who are legally married and then should only be with our husband or wife. This commandment or law brings me so much peace and comfort. I know that we came to this earth to learn from our experiences, I know that the commandment given to Adam and Eve to multiply and replenish the earth is still in existence and that marriage between a man and woman should be the channel for this. I recently read a book by an author called John Bytheway and he spoke about something called the "what if everyone" concept where we could ask the question "what if everyone lived this principle?" If we were to apply this to the law of chastity, I am sure we would find that it would change the world. If everyone lived by this principle, there would be a huge decrease in unwanted pregnanices, unwanted children, abortion, rape, sexually transmitted diseases. It would make a huge difference. The law of chastity allows something that is a gift from God to remain sacred and special. Show more Show less
