Hi I'm Jo

I'm British, I'm a Mother, I'm a General Manager for a local cleaning company and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I'm not busy with motherhood and my job, I enjoy being and doing all things creative. I qualified as a hairdresser, so enjoy doing that for family & friends. I enjoy music, singing, playing on my guitar, and occasionally write lyrics/compose songs. I'm currently into crochet and making earrings.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Mormon faith, after my parents were converted & baptised in the 1960's. I believe in the things I have been taught, and putting it into practice is a lifetime pursuit. I know there is a God in Heaven, that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and that the Holy Spirit can guide and help us in choosing the right each day. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the gospel we should follow, in order to return to live with our Father in Heaven again in the next life. I know that the Lord leads and guides people through prophets. I sustain President Thomas S. Monson as a chosen prophet seer and revelator, authorised to speak on behalf of the Lord. I know through personal witness from the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that Joseph Smith translated it by the power of God. I know that the Bible and the book of Mormon are scripture and that we will find answers to our prayers by studying from the scriptures. At the end of the day, even though I was brought up in the church and went because I was encouraged to go by my family, I have still gone through my own conversion process. I know for myself that the things I've been taught are true, especially as life experiences have shown me that God is there, and that He loves me and wants me to be happy. When I'm keeping the commandments and my covenants He is happy with me and is able to bless my life as I demonstrate my love for Him through obedience to His laws. I know that faith in Him is crucial, that repentance is a gift so that I can be cleansed from sin, that my sustained commitment to Him is necessary in order to be worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost and the gifts & blessings that come as a result of choosing His way above any other ways. I love this verse from one of our hymns: 'The Lord is my light, then why should I fear? By day and by night, His presence is near. He is my salvation from sorrow and sin, this blessed assurance the Spirit doth bring.'

How I live my faith

I feel that I live my faith by trying to do the right thing. I've got a ways to go before I'm perfect, but I rely on my Saviour's help so that I can do my best each day to try and do the right thing in all aspects of my life. With my daughter it's an exciting time for the both of us, we do our best to stay sane and love each other no matter what life throws at us. We live our faith by trying to do good things for other people, helping out where we can. I've grown through becoming a mother, as I can more clearly see the need to be a better example and a promoter of all things that are good, right & true. In the home I am able to take time to study, pray and reflect on what God wants me to know, and how best to live my life so that He is happy with me. Because, if he is, then I am blessed for keeping His commandments, and for keeping my promises and covenants that I've made with Him at baptism and in the Temple. Sabbath day worship is very important to me, it's a time to focus on renewing my promises and learning more of His word and will for me alongside other followers of the faith. It's good to feel the support from other Latter-day Saints and investigators of the faith who are also wanting to do their best to be obedient to God too. It's also the place for me to learn how best to get through the everyday pitfalls of imperfection, and how to work through greater trials that may come our way from time to time. In the workplace I am blessed to work in an environment where there is respect for each other no matter what our beliefs may be. The company ethic is supportive of always trying to do the right thing, and seeks to uphold good principles of practice. Wherever I am I try to remember who I really am. I am a child of God. He is the creator of my spirit. As a member of the Lord's true church I am trying to be a good example of the faith everywhere I go. I look to God for daily guidance to be what He would have me be, and do what he would have me do.
