Hi I'm Sarah Duncan

I'm a convert of 4 years, I am from England and I am preparing to be a missionary for the church, just waiting on the mission call

About Me

I am 22 years of age and I currently work to save up for my mission. I have lived in Grimsby, England all my life with my parents and I am the only member of the church in my family. I joined the church back in November 2012 after meeting with the missionaries. I love the Lord and this church, it has brought me great happiness. I enjoy reading and being amongst nature, whether that be the woods or the beach.. it helps me feel closer to God. I love spending time with my friends and family in my spare time also. I am planning after my mission to study and become a midwife, I love children and I want to bring them into this world and help make a difference/ contribute to that difference in a newly mothers life and her baby's. Helping others is something I enjoy and babies bring so much joy to a families life. I am an aunty, a future missionary, a daughter, I am a mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up in a home that had no religious background what so ever and it wasn't something my family really talked about. I'd always felt like something was missing but never really bothered to find out what it was. I came to know about this Gospel through a friend that is a member of the Church too, one night we began talking about the "basics" and I really took in what she was telling me. I could see the excitement and the passion she had for the Gospel, we talked about it for almost 2 hours. She invited me to mutual the following Tuesday which is for the youth to come together with leaders of the young men and young women of the ward to be involved in spiritual activities. I remember actually reminding her on the Monday about coming and she was amazed that I had even remembered myself. I went to that activity and the young women and leaders were very welcoming and they helped me whilst I joined it. After mutual I told my friend that I enjoyed the evening and she automatically asked if I'd come to sacrament on the Sunday. She explained briefly what it was about and I was pretty happy to agree and come along. That Sunday I looked in my wardrobe for some thing appropriate to wear and was excited. At church I decided to pass on partaking of the bread and the water as I really didn't know what that was about even though I knew what they symbolized. I listened to the talks and I remember smiling at a few comments. After sacrament my friend introduced me to the missionaries and I said to her I'd like to have lessons and learn more.. From then on I began to get lessons and I became a member very quickly.. It didn't take long and it really surprised me that I was able to make the changes I needed to be baptized. But I know I made the right decision. I know this church is true and I know I made the right decision to be baptized. This Gospel brings me great Joy and I know we have an Heavenly Father and a Savior who loves us :)

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example to those around me, especially my family who are not members of the church. I try to be that daughter God needs me to be, to be an example of His Son, Jesus Christ. I also have a calling at church as ward missionary where I go out with the full time missionaries and I also reach out to inactive members. I'm preparing to serve the Lord for 18 months somewhere in the world, to bring others the joy and truth of this Gospel. To tell them they can be together with their families, to tell them God lives and loves them, to tell them they have a Saviour who atoned and died for them so they could be clean, joyful and resurrected to live with God again, and to tell them that Christs church has been restored through Joseph Smith. I live my faith by serving God and his children, I live my faith in my actions and testimony, I live my faith by glorifying God.
