Hi I'm John

I grew up in California, I love to Hike, and Camp, play sports, and CrossFit. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 4 kids, I have two of the best parents in the world. I don't know how but I always end up with the most amazing friends who build me up. I've been blessed with great influences in my life, weather they were school teachers, church leaders, coaches, or just a solid friend I can say that I have been led by great people who helped me become who I am today. I love CrossFit, if I could spend all day at the gym doing WOD's I would. Taylor Swift is what I like to listen to; she's the only artist that you'll find on my ipod. I love to go shooting, I got introduced to it in college and I became a fan overnight- spare time and spare money is spent on shooting. I take part in anything that looks like a sport, I played football and was a swimmer in school, but anything that lets you run, throw, catch, or move is something I'm interested in. Currently you'll find me in Wisconsin serving a full time mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I may have been born into a family that was Mormon I certainly did not understand or give thought to the theology I practiced until my late teenage years. As I became interested in the pursuit of truth, no matter what field it was found in, I found myself forming a system of beliefs that extended across every segment of my life. The truths that were taught in science, in history, and in church all began to mesh into one consistent picture of reality. As I continue to learn daily, in every aspect of knowledge I find myself filling in this grand mural of how things really are. I see God's plan for us, Christ's love for us, and how that all fits into this world we live in. I guess you could say I'm Mormon because there is truth in this gospel that cannot be found anywhere else.

How I live my faith

My desire to live my faith originates from my knowledge that God is my loving Heavenly Father and has a plan for me, and wants above all things for me to be happy. I try to live my faith by improving myself each day. I can't say that I am always successful, but I can say that nothing makes me happier then growing myself. The gospel of Jesus Christ is for those who are imperfect. If we humble ourselves and come to him with a broken heart and a contrite spirit he will not only heal us, but will build us up.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Perhaps one of my favorite things about this church is the respect shown to women. Sadly it is a rare event in the world today that women are viewed and treated in the proper respectful way that they should be. In some cases however I think this gets turned into a negative and an incorrect perception grows that men are greater then women, when in reality this is not the case, nor is it taught to be. Men and women are different, they have different, eternally significant roles. God loves his children and in all things has prepared a plan for them so that they will be happy. Show more Show less
