Hi I'm Spencer Winn

And I'm Mormon!

About Me

I am 18 years old and am preparing to leave on my mission. I leave one week from today for two years to serve my church in San Antonio Texas. I may be sacrificing two years from my life and my family, but it is worth because, I hope, through my work I am able to help others able to spend eternity with their families. I am from Idaho, so I like potatoes and such and of course going to church. I recently graduated from Kimberly High School and then attended a semester at The College of Southern Idaho. I had a scholarship for another semester, but after the announcement was made that missionaries could serve a year earlier I jumped at the chance to go on my mission. I love to play basketball and any kind of sport really. I am an avid sports fan, and it may be a little hard for me to give up ESPN for two years, but I know that once I am out there I won't be too worried about that anymore. I am an easy going guy, I love my friends and the company they bring, and also I love going on dates!! When I get back from my mission I will hopefully have a career, or at least a college major in mind. Then I will be able to start my life from there. Some people would think thaty since I am leaving for two years that I would be behind everyone else that stayed, but I truly believe that I will be on even ground with my peers when I get back from all the things I will learn on my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I know this church is true.

How I live my faith

Being a mormon is by no means easy. You have to give up things that everyone else in the world seems to be doing. Because of this it may seem like we are restrained, but this is not the case at all. I believe that by abstaining from things like alcohol, tobbaco, sex until marriage, among other things that I am truly free. Doing these things will hold us back in this life and the one to come. So by giving up these things we are truly free. Other then not doing some things being a mormon is great! There is church and so many activities that you have the oppurtunity to paricpate in, and everyone in the church has open arms to make you feel welcome with a sense of belonging. It is such a great feeling walking into the building and just taking in the happiness that everyone seems to be emitting. This happiness is everywhere in the church because of the knowledge the gospel gives us.
