Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a wife, I'm a mum, I'm a midwife and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a married to Adam and we have 6 sons. I have a degree in Midwifery Studies, which I began when we already had 5 children. I now work part-time as midwife, trying to fit it around the demands of a busy family life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was a teenager and my mother married a less-active member of the Church. Although their marriage could be described as dysfunctional (an understatement!), as a result of their meeting I joined the Church and it has transformed my life. Already a member of another Christian Church, when the LDS missionaries taught me about the Church's doctrines they sounded 'familiar' and resonated with what I already believed. My beliefs weren't changed - they were reinforced. My faith in my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have sustained me throughout my life. I have no doubt they exist. I've had some tough times - but I have always found reassurance, comfort and peace through the gospel of Christ.

How I live my faith

My first priority is my family and together we try to create a safe and loving home, based on the teachings of the Saviour. The gospel affects every area of my life and every decision I make. I get a lot of stuff wrong but the gospel encourages me to keep trying - despite my flaws. I have had lots of opportunities to serve in various church assignments - quite often with the youth of the church, which I love!
