Hi I'm Jo

I bake cakes. I'm a nurse. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm just a regular girl, I live at home with my family. I love spending time with my niece and nephew. I've finished university and now I work as a nurse in a High Dependancy Unit. I love spending time with friends, having fun and making people happy. In my free time I bake...lots! Birthday cakes, cupcakes, wedding cakes. I'm an outdoors type of person, I love walking, going to theme parks, camping, kayaking, any outdoor adventure!

Why I am a Mormon

My Dad joined the church when I was three, my Mum was already a member but started to come back out to church with my Dad. Even when we weren't all members, we always had contact with the church, there were always people coming to our home, getting involved with us as a family and bringing the Spirit with them into our home. It's now 21 years later and I have been baptised at the age of 8, and I have loved my life in the church. It has made me the person who I am today. The teachings have helped to shape my life and helped me in times of hardship. At the age of 12 I remember being taught to choose then that I would choose the right and make good decisions in my life, and when the time came were I would face difficulties, I would have already made my choice. That principle helped me through my youth, often being the only person in my group of friends to be a mormon. I have a lot of friends in church. I don't know what it is about us, people think we are different and I guess they are right! In a good way! The fun we can have just being together, or supporting each other, giving service, learning of the things we need to know. We are a fun bunch of people, we have our trials, but through our faith and fellowship of the other members of the church, we make it through by sticking together. I love telling people about my faith, I love when they find our beliefs fascinating, we do things different and people love to learn more about what, how and most of all why! I love my Saviour, I love the gospel, and I love being a Mormon. I wouldn't have it any other way :)

How I live my faith

I'm the primary president in our small ward. This just means that I look after all the children (along with the help of some other people) for part of church on a Sunday. We also arrange activity days and other fun stuff for the children, so they can spend time together and learn more about Jesus and his teachings. I love spending time with the children! Going back to the basics of my faith to teach to the youngest people has really strengthened my love for my Saviour and the gospel. I love to get involved in service projects, either through church, or just whenever I can help! Nothing makes me happier than bringing joy to others lives. I am quite often the only Mormon that my friends know. I love hearing new questions people have about my faith and how our religion works, and what we believe. At first people may know nothing about Mormons, or very little, but it's surprising how interested people are when they find out I'm a Mormon. I believe the best way to live my faith is to be an example to others around me. By being myself, and loving my Heavenly Father, people can see how happy the Gospel and being a Mormon, makes me.

What is being a Mormon like?

Jo
Being a Mormon really helps to make me a happy, well rounded and enthusiastic person. By being a Mormon, and learning all I can about my Saviour and Heavenly Father, and by trying to shape my life through their example, I know I can find peace and joy in every day. People around me who are not Mormon often comment on how much work and effort it must take to do everything I need to do in my day with the added essentials of prayer, scripture study, church meetings, activities, service etc. But I can honestly say that I know why I am here on earth, and I know my part in Heavenly Father's plan for us, I know what blessings I can obtain by living faithfully and following His ways. I love the focus of families in our faith. Families are forever, so I may as well spend a much time getting to know and love them here in this life so that for eternity, we will have a strong love and happiness together forever. I love my family, and I love the blessings I receive daily just by "being a Mormon". I want everyone to know how fulfilling the gospel of Jesus Christ is, and how happy it makes me to know that my Saviour and Heavenly Father know and love me personally. Show more Show less
