Hi I'm Phil

I was born in Connecticut but grew up in California. I had a small farm and a large extended family.

About Me

I am a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. I enjoy living and working on the small farm where I raised my three sons and now one of them owns it. Over the last 35 years, we have raised hereford cattle, rabbits, fruit orchards, and Christmas trees but most of all, we raised boys. I like doing all kinds of work with my hands, especially outdoors. I also enjoy camping and fishing. I also have enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world for short visits. Family is very important to me so much of my time is spent connecting with all of them.

Why I am a Mormon

About 35 years ago, some young women stopped by our home and asked if we would like to know about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I said, "no thanks", and went back to packing for a trip. They said as they left, "Don't you want to know more about the Mormons?" I recognized that name and said, "Yes, I have known some good people who were Mormons." When we came back from our trip, these young women were ready to teach us and we were ready to learn. We had been feeling something was missing in our life even though we had attended several different churches. After a few months, the whole family was baptized and none of us has ever regretted it.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the last 35 years has changed my life. I love all the opportunities for service that come to me through my callings in the Church. I have made wonderful friends with families I have visited through the hometeaching program and through my association of working side by side with friends in my callings. I love teaching others how to find their ancestors on FamilySearch. I love helping to organize events that introduce some of the programs of the church to members and to people in the community. I have helped with an Emergency preparedness fair, several Family History Seminars and fairs, and some "introduction to the Church" firesides. I like to go to service projects where we cut wood, clean up a school or park, or fix up someone's home. The Church gives us so many opportunities to grow by service to others.
