Hi I'm Alyssa

I study graphic design and photography at UVU. I drum and play percussion. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently studying graphic design and photography at Utah Valley University. I have always had an interest in art and music. I play in percussion ensembles, steel drum bands, and drumlines. I also play the guitar and piano. I love drawing, painting, and sketching whether on paper or the computer. I love taking photographs and creating different designs on photoshop, illustrator, indesign, etc. I also love anything outdoors like hiking, biking, climbing, and rafting. I'm a sister, daughter, friend, an artist and a musician, a college student and an adventurer. But most importantly, I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt God's love in my life. I am a Mormon because I know that He's real and that this is His church. I have looked into other religions, and have had many influential professors and friends who are not of this same faith. They are amazing people, and I love them and look up to them. But they are missing something. I can tell that they have the light of Christ, and that they are good, righteous people. But there is something good that I have found in righteous Latter Day Saint members that I have not found in other people. I can't tell you exactly what that is, because I don't exactly know for myself. But I do know that this church is true, and that the Book of Mormon is true, and that there is a living prophet on this Earth today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by living the values I believe in. I serve others in any way I can, because I know it's the right thing to do, and I enjoy being able to help other people. I love going to activities because there is always a special vibe there. Being around people who know who they are and who don't care what the world thinks of them is probably the best thing I've ever gotten to do.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Alyssa
Mormons definitely believe in equality of men and women. Women are not above men, and men are not above women. Parents need to be equally involved in helping to raise and nurture their families. In this church, I have never felt as though a man was above me. We are all spirit children of our Heavenly Father, and we treat each other as such. We treat each other as brothers and sisters, because ultimately, we are all family. Show more Show less
