Hi I'm Shera Cheung

I was born in Hong Kong and I am studying in UK and I'm a mormon.

About Me

My name is Shera. I am from Hong Kong, I grew up in a single parent home. I like to travel because I like learning about different cultures. I learnt a lot of principles from church about how to become a kind person and my favourite principle is "No other success can compensate for failure in the home.” Currently I am a student studying a degree in Biomedical Science in the UK at UWE Bristol. I hope to become a scientist and work in a hospital laboratory after I graduate. I am living in a house which has four different nationalities which is something I am very happy about.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was 12. One day, I suddenly wanted to go to church, I was studying at a Christian primary school which I believe influenced my decision. We had religious classes so I heard a lot of stories about Jesus Christ when I was young. From these classes I told my mum I wanted to go to church with my uncle, at the time my mum was a Mormon but she was inactive since I was born. My mum responded to me that there are many churches but now you need to choose the most appropriate church for yourself. At that time I didn't understand what she is saying. Luckily, one of my aunties came back from Australia, she is a Mormon, and I told her I wanted to go to church but I don't know which one I should go to. On the following sunday, she took me to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, and I felt happy and very comfortable. After that the missionary came to our house and taught me the lession, after 3 months I was baptised. My mum started active service in the church from that moment. Now all my family are church members, before this it was just me and my mother. My Stepfather also joined the church from a few years ago. We now practice the gospel at home. I know this church is true and I testifly that when we keep the commandment in our life we will get many blessings, even beyond the blessings we desire.

How I live my faith

My calling in the church is in the ward missionary. I have had this calling twice; once in Hong Kong and now I am calling my mission again in the UK. Previously, I was helping the fulltime missionary share the gospel to the new people in the church. I am enjoying this calling because I can meet different people, in particular I am learning how they teach people lessons, sharing the book of morman which I can use to improve the communciation skills in my life and my calling.
