Hi I'm Haley

I grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho. I love to serve those around me:) I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey there I'm Haley! I am 20 years old, and I am serving a full-time mission for my church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This gospel means everything to me, and I feel so privileged to be serving my Father in Heaven at this time in my life. A couple of my hobbies that I enjoy are that I love to dance (ballet), sing, act, and play the piano. I love anything artsy! Performing is so much fun for me, and a lot of people would never expect that about me. I also enjoy the great outdoors! My family and I like to camp, bike, canoe, fish, hike, etc. I love going out in nature, and exploring the beautiful world the Lord has created for us:)

Why I am a Mormon

First off some background to my family's story. We moved from Virginia in November of 1999, and headed out west to good ol' Idaho. My dad had gotten a great job, and decided to move our family there. In Virginia, we were members of a non-denominational Christian church called the Christian Center. I remember being in a musical that the church put on called, "Scriptures Rock!"That's where I learned John 3:16 to song, and I still remember it! Anyways, we moved to Idaho, and my parents were seeking a church for us. We tried a few, but even my little 7 year old brain knew they weren't true. At this time, LDS church members were bringing us food, and helping us move in to our new home. It wasn't until one of my new friends at school invited me over to her house, and her mom and my mom started talking about the church...To make a long story short, my family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in May 2001. I was baptized at 8 years old, along with my older brother who was 10, and my mother. (My father had been baptized at the age of 8, but then his parents divorced right after, so he never went back to church until my family started seeking for a church). My little brother was sad that day, but he was too young, poor kid. I am so grateful for my friend's family's example, and also our new Mormon neighbors who truly welcomed us. I remember my baptism day with such clarity. It was truly one of the most beautiful days in my life, other than being sealed for time and eternity with my family in the Idaho Falls LDS temple in August 2011. The feeling of being clean, and also feeling an immense love for my Heavenly Father for blessing me with my incredible family, is one that words cannot express enough. I love this church, and I know it is the true church of God. I have felt the Atonement of Jesus Christ in my life on numerous occasions, and I am so grateful the Lord provided us with a means to become clean again after our baptism. That is why I am a Mormon:)

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. I strive to always remember my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and act in the way he would want me to act. Whether that is a simple smile or giving my time to serve. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have done so much for us, and if I could do even the smallest something like brightening one of God's children's days, then I know I would have achieved what I strove to accomplish.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

I have found in my life that when I have built a relationship upon my faith in Jesus Christ, then my relationships with others are more Christ-centered. My roommate/best friend and I decided last semester to pray with one another every single night. I found that my relationship with her became closer when we put the Lord first in our lives. Our room was a safe haven, and I felt more love for her because I knew our Father in Heaven loved her even more than I did. Show more Show less
