Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in Washington, my love is for the mountains and evergreen trees, painting and my family!

About Me

There are two sides to me that have shaped who I am. On one side, I am an artist! I love to draw and paint. Landscapes are a favorite, though I am going to college in Idaho to study and broaden my abilities. I am studying to be a high school art teacher because I know there is creativity in all of us. When I paint I am always transfixed at the beauty and order that aranges from what would seem to be a chaos of color and lines; what was once a patch of green is transformed into fields and forests. On the other side, growing up with a Boeing engenieer for a dad instilled a drive to figure out how things work and why. I love to learn all things science from the universe and astronomy to the physics in every day aspects. Together the artist and scientist inside me have made me love the world around me on many different levels. I love to be outside, mostly in fun weather conditions such as snow storms and pouring rain! Other passions include (but are not limited to) sitting around the fire, hiking and camping, reading sci-fi's, video gaming and archery, playing the flute and piano and most especially doing all these things with my family and our dog! I have two older brothers and two younger sisters, and though there are times when we aren't on the best of terms.... I love them dearly and they are the friends I know I can count on at whenever I need them. My parents have been incredible examples to me in all aspects of life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I want to be! I grew up leaning the principles of this church from my parents. The school and friends I had growing up where not always the best influences on me and I had to stand up for what I believed in many occasions. In fact it brought me to wonder why I did what I did, and seek God to know if it really was what he wanted for me. As I do now, I did then. I read the scriptures and followed the counsel there to ask God. He taught me through feelings and experience that this is the way he wants me to follow and that this really is his organization re-established on the earth! That he talks with us just as he did with my favorite people in the Bible and Book of Mormon through a prophet. I know that my choices have brought me great happiness. I have been protected, comforted and guided to be the best I can be, a daughter of God. As I do what the teachings of this church invite me to do I feel peace and confidence; my questions are answered. I know my Savior Jesus Christ lives and loves me and through him all things are possible. He made it so I can repent and be clean. He is everything to me.

How I live my faith

I am currently on a mission for my church, and am teaching and serving the people in Florida for 18 months. I am seeking to strengthen those I meet in their faith in our savior Jesus Christ and help them to know that there is a purpose to this life, know that we have a creator who has given us a plan to have happiness in this earth and joy when we meet God after this life. This is something I volunteered to do and did so with all my heart. I know what a difference knowing I have a Father in Heaven has made in my life and the strength that relying on his help has made. Everyday I serve the Lord by finding people to teach about his gospel. I love teaching about the principles of the teachings of Christ: Faith, Repentance, Forgiveness, Charity ect. It's hard work, but I love it! I study and read the Bible and Book of Mormon daily and look for opportunities to serve, whether that be raking leave, pulling weeds, share a scripture or listening.
