Hi I'm Victoria Lynn Starkey Rush

I am short and I smile a lot. Mother of 4, grandmother of 9 and counting. Happily engaged in life.

About Me

Since I was a little girl I have wanted to trace my family trees. Now I trace family trees for others and LOVE it. I live in South Carolina where it is too hot in the summer and not cold enough in the winter but the springs are breathtaking and the autumns are gloriously beautiful. I walk 3 miles almost every day and smile a lot. Two years ago I was too weak to even walk to my own mailbox. Now I am healthy and loving life. I have 3 part-time jobs that I love doing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love Jesus Christ and am glad to be learning to be like Him.

How I live my faith

My life changed the day I met the Mormon elders. I was working as a secretary during the day but in the evening I worked at a pizza place. The Elders came in and I teased them about their clean-cut looks. Everybody else in there was in bell-bottoms and baggy shirts (this was 1973). The Elders asked me if I had ever heard of Joseph Smith...No. How about Brigham Young...isn't that a school out west somewhere? What about the Mormons....aren't they a cult? No, they're not a cult, would you like to know more about them?....Sure! That was my auspicious beginning. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If you have never looked at it, go for it! It is Totally worth your time to check it out!

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Victoria Lynn Starkey Rush
I thought Mormonism was a cult...the only reason people believe this is because they are uninformed. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a strong Christian church with deep roots in the Bible and Book of Mormon and a love of God and mankind. Show more Show less
