Hi I'm Lauren

I'm going to be an elementary school teacher. I'm an avid tennis player. I'm serving a mission in Uruguay. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a BYU student and fan through and through. I have loved being at Brigham Young University studying Elementary Education. Learning has always been a true love of mine and I am excited to pass on that love of learning to the young children I will teach. Along with wanting to teach children, I will be teaching the beautiful people of Uruguay as I serve a mission in the Montevideo West Mission. I come from a beautiful family of two brothers, two sisters, and two wonderful parents. I love to play any and all sports, however tennis is definitely my passion. My dad is my coach and we have been playing together since I could hold a racket. We enjoy going out on warm summer days and playing some fun matches with each other. Besides tennis, I enjoy music and painting. My parents tell me that until high school, I could not sing on tune if you paid me. However, I would like to think that I have grown past that, and even if I haven't I love to sing my heart out wherever I go. I also enjoy putting my voice to the piano, guitar, or ukulele whenever I can get the chance. Music inspires me and I am usually surrounded by it. I am a very enthusiastic individual that loves life and trying new experiences. Life is truly a beautiful experience.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of this church my whole life. However, I find that I am converted continuously as I keep learning more about the gospel and the love that our Savior has for us. There are times in life where I think everyone questions what they believe. I know I have. However, I also know that when I hold strong to what I know, I am happy and find a peace and joy in this life that I am sure I would not feel without the testimony that I have. I know above all other things that our Heavenly Father loves us and so does His son Jesus Christ. Our whole plan that has been given to us is to be there for our benefit and happiness. This is why we call that plan, The Great Plan of Happiness. This Earth was created for us so that we can experience beauty and joy. I also know that life is not always what we think it will and should be. Sometimes life is really difficult, but that is because we are also here to learn and to grow. We need to take the time we have on this Earth to become the best people that we can be so that one day we can live eternally once again with our Father in Heaven. This gospel also blesses our lives greatly because it gives us the chance to work through our mistakes and to repent and be made whole. All of us have trials, temptations, and things that make life difficult. However, the Lord walks by our sides each step of the way if we are but willing to look toward Him and ask for His help and direction. This gospel is beautiful and it gives me a sense of fulfillment because I know who I am and where I am going.

How I live my faith

I love every part of this gospel and because I do, I have chosen to serve a mission for a year and a half. So many experiences have helped me to prepare to know that serving a mission is what I am supposed to do right now. Among those things is completing my young women's program and earning the award in the youth program, serving in different callings that include nursery and sunbeam teachers in the primary for children, pianist, and compassionate service leader. Apart from serving in different positions in the church, I love to attend all the activities that the church puts together. It is such a good way to get involved and be a part of the community. Many of the projects that I have been a part of include humanitarian projects on a larger scale. On a smaller scale, I love when we work on neighborhood cleanups or serve the elderly people in our wards. It is such an amazing way to get to know different types of people while also helping to build others up.
