Hi I'm Oscar Fernandez

I'm Dominican. I love to laugh. I'm a Missionary in the Oregon Salem Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Oscar Fernandez. I was born in the Dominican Republic, in the beautiful capital of Santo Domingo. I moved very early on in my life from the DR living in places such as Florida, Utah, Montana, Puerto Rico, Minnesota, and Ohio. Currently, my family lives in Ohio, but I'm living in Oregon as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been serving as a Spanish missionary for 8 months now, first in the Oregon Eugene Mission and then receiving a call to serve in the newly established (2013) Oregon Salem Mission. I attended Brigham Young University-Idaho for two years. I'm a Business Management major with an emphasis in Finance. I love learning about languages, food, different people and their cultures. I love watching all types of movies. I enjoy playing sports and staying active such as tennis, rugby and lifting weights. I'm very family oriented. I come from a small immediate family of four, but from an immense extended family. Growing up, family has always meant a lot to me and seeing the example of my parents as how close-knit they were with their siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles and parents, etc just further implanted in me the importance of having a relationship of love and trust with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of God restored upon this earth again through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I can testify that as we exercise our faith, repent, are baptized by someone holding the proper authority of the Priesthood, live worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost and endure to the end we will be able to experience the great and eternal joy our Father in Heaven has for us and we will once again be able to return to live with Him. The Holy Ghost testifies this truth to me. I know that He life, and that He loves me. I feel his love, his compassion, his concern for me in all aspects of my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always trying to keep an eternal perspective in all of my decisions. I live my faith by serving those around me. By doing so, I not only get to feel the love Heavenly Father has for me, but I help others feel the love he has for them. I focus on what the Lord would have me do and remember that the happiness the aspects of the world can bring are all temporary, they will only last until death, but that the relationships I develop with our Father and Savior, and our fellow men--our brothers and sisters--will last for eternity.
