Hi I'm Lauren

I grew up in Arizona. I am a collage student. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a student at Brigham Young University studying accounting. This last summer I worked at a family camp owned by the Church. It was the best summer of my life! I enjoyed being able to serve families and watch them grow closer together. My three older sisters and their husbands live in here in Provo, UT, but my parents are back home in Arizona. I love my family and spending time with them, especially playing with my baby niece. I don't have a lot of free time, but when I do I love spending it with family and friends. Some of the things I like to do are watch movies and have spontaneous dance parties. I can even convince my closest friends to color and finger paint with me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church. My parents went to BYU and were married in the Provo Temple. Growing up, they taught me about Jesus Christ and the teachings of His gospel. The things I learned in church always made sense to me and felt right. When I obey the commandments, I feel peace in my life and can see the blessings my Heavenly Father sends me. I know my God loves me and wants me to be happy. That is why he sent His son, Jesus Christ, to die for me. I know that through his sacrifice, I can change and become a better person.

How I live my faith

I try to follow the teachings of the church in everything I do because to me, being a follower of Jesus Christ is not just a Sunday thing. Some of the things I do include: going to church every Sunday, reading from the scriptures everyday, and praying to my Heavenly Father multiple times a day. I don't smoke, drink, or take drugs, which some people think is strange for a college student. I also donate 10 percent of my income to the church as tithing. Keeping the commandments means a lot more than obeying a list of rules regarding what I can and cannot do. I live my faith by being the type of person God would want me to be. I try to serve other people and volunteer my time. I visit others to see how they're doing, write notes of encouragement, and sing in the ward choir. From being honest in my school work to being kind and saying hello to people, I am showing my Heavenly Father that I want to follow Christ. Here at school I have unique opportunities to live my faith because Brigham Young University is owned by the Church. Every other week I can hear devotionals where Christ's gospel is discussed. We pray at the beginning of class and can talk about religious things during class, tying it into what we are learning.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Lauren
Reading from the scriptures can show us the right way to live. As we read the scriptures, we can come to know our Savior, Jesus Christ. The better our relationship with him, the better our lives will be. Show more Show less
