Hi I'm Curtis

I'm a basketball player. I love talking to people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I really enjoy just having a good time and having fun with other people. I love playing all types of sports and I especially enjoy playing ping pong, basketball, and badminton. I also love nature. I really enjoy how beautiful our world can be and I love the outside and its many wonders. I enjoy looking at the clouds and stars, and I like fishing in the summer. I have three brothers and a sister. My family and I also have a pet cat and tortoise. I love my family and I really enjoy hanging out with each one of them and just doing whatever. I am an Eagle Scout and I am serving a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ. I am very excited for the chance to do so and serve others in any way I can!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints because I know it to be true. I remember my first time wondering really what I should base my morals and values on as a teen. I was just entering middle school and I had many different ways I could go with friends and choices. I had been baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints at the age of eight already but I had not really investigated if it was true yet. I then made a very critical chose in my life. I decided that I would read the Book of Mormon and pray if it were true. No other church believed in the Book of Mormon so I knew that if it were true, then the church I was raised in was also. As I read the Book of Mormon it was hard at first to see any benefits and I struggled to concentrate and focus. Yet, I remember one night as I read, I felt a burning in my chest, accompanied with peace and certainty. I then knelt in prayed asking my Father in Heaven if The Book of Mormon was a true set of scripture and I can remember feeling that it was. As I went through school and other struggles I continued to grow. I did not automatically know that all of things in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was true but I held fast to what I had felt and knew to be true in the Book of Mormon. I soon learned as I continued to read The Book of Mormon, Bible, studied and prayed humbly that each principal of the church was true. As I applied them and obeyed I gained even greater testimony that what I was doing was right. I do not know everything and I still make mistakes but I am so thankful for how Christ has changed my life. Through the Church, I have come closer to my Heavenly Father in astounding ways. I have found true joy and peace. I have found pure guidance and great comfort. I am so thankful all I have been given and especially the opportunity to repent and be clean again through my Savior.

How I live my faith

I have really come to love serving in my community and church. I love my friends in both and I enjoy making them feel better and grow as I give what I can. As I grew up I remember thinking " how can anyone like giving service, it so boring" but now It has really become a main focus in my life. I love sharing what I know and what I believe to be true anywhere I can. I have always tried my best to be an example of what I believe but I also make mistakes. With my friends I have really enjoyed talking to them about what they value, religiously or not, and talking about what someone believes. I love learning and growing. I especially enjoy sharing what I have come to value in my life and what has helped me so much. I take pride in family and how Christ's gospel has shaped my life and I love the benefits that obedience to Him gives.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

We believe that families are part of Gods plan to help us come back to Him and bring us joy. In the family we strive to love, serve, teach and learn. We know that a family might not always be perfect but that in the the family we can always strive to be stronger and to improve. In our families and through the gospel we believe that we can be with our families forever eternally with our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
