Hi I'm Annie

I live and work in London. I enjoy writing, travelling and cooking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm single, 31 years old, and live and work in the greatest city in the world--London! I was raised in the Mormon faith. My mother's family are all members of the church, but my father converted when I was 8 years old. I have always loved numbers and problem solving. I studied accounting at university and have both a bachelor's and master's degree in the subject. I work now as an auditor for a multinational public accounting firm. In my spare time I love cooking, trying new cuisine, travelling, reading, writing, photography, swimming and cycling (but I hate running!).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I can clearly see how living according to the truths taught in this church have shaped my life and given me an understanding of who I am and who God wants me to become. I know that God lives and loves me and that he provided a saviour for me so that I can continue to overcome challenges and become a little more like Jesus every day. The Book of Mormon and revelation from modern prophets and apostles have been key to my coming to know God's plan for me and know how to live my life so that I can find the most happiness possible.

How I live my faith

I've lived in a lot of different places in my adult life as a single woman and one thing I can count on when I move to a new place is that I will have "family" everywhere I go. For me, being a part of a Mormon congregation means reaching out to others as if they were my own brothers and sisters. Living my faith goes far beyond attending church on Sunday (although that's a big part of it). Connecting with God on a daily basis through personal prayer and scripture study keeps me grounded. Some people think the commandments and "rules" we live by are limiting, but they have helped me to remember that God loves me enough to provide guidance and direction that will ultimately lead me back to him. I went through a period of serious challenges when I was in my late teenage years and early twenties. The gospel became my lifeline back to peace and happiness. When I consistently work to overcome my weaknesses and follow Jesus Christ's example of charity and humility, I feel peace and joy that surpasses any fleeting happiness I might have by living lifestyle contrary to the gospel standard. My latest church responsibility is helping people find suitable accommodation in London--not an easy task for newcomers! In the past I have taught various Sunday School classes as well as served as a leader in the Church's women's organisation. I served as a full-time missionary in South Korea and even though the language was difficult and the culture was so different from my own, I learned that people everywhere have the same basic desires to understand their life's purpose and know that they are loved. I truly cherished the opportunity to share my testimony of Jesus Christ with these people.
