Hi I'm Emily

I was born and raised in Sheffield, England - one of 5 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Married in 2010 to my husband, Seth, who is also a Mormon. We got married whilst we were both studying at University. Growing up I was the only Mormon in my school (apart from my sister!), so many of my closest friends are not Mormons. My husband however spent his school days in Utah, where you are pretty much the 'odd one out' if you are not a Mormon, so we have very different upbringings. We have no children yet & are just enjoying life together, both working full time. We love spending time with our families, travelling & eating out! We have a passion for adventure and outdoorsy-type activities such as hiking, camping, cycling & scuba diving (when given the chance!). Life is sweet.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church so I have been a Mormon all my life. My Grand-parents, on both sides, were converts to the Church when they came into contact with Mormon missionaries early in their marriages. Many people have asked me whether it's a choice or an obligation - I always tell them I've never felt obligated or pressured into being a church member by anyone, it's always been a choice. My parent's could never have forced me to go to Church if I didn't want to! At 17 I read the book my whole life had been centered around - the Book of Mormon. I didn't only just believe that it was true anymore, I knew. Being a Mormon gives me the precious knowledge of how this world came to be, of who I am, why I am here & most importantly where I am going.

How I live my faith

I am currently responsible for the welfare and teaching of the Women in my ward, anyone aged 18+. With help from a few others, we organise activities for the women, teach them lessons & serve them in any way we can to help make their physical and emotional well-being the best it can be. I try to be as creative as I can & often find that hard work pays off.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Emily
If God spoke to his people through Prophet's in the Bible, then why would he not do it today? There is no doubt in my mind that we have a living Prophet who is inspired to teach us in this day and age, just like there always has been. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Emily
The proof is in the name of our Church - The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. Yes, Mormon's are Christians! Show more Show less
