Hi I'm Martin

I'm a father of 3 boys, an endurance cyclist, & soon to be an MBA student. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a father of three wonderful little boys and husband to an amazing wife. I've run and managed a variety of businesses over the years, but outside of the home my passion lies with cycling. I strive to maintain a positive outlook in every aspect of my life and will always look for the up-side in every situation.

Why I am a Mormon

Becoming a full-on Christian was never part of my life plan, it would have never have figured in my top 100 things to-do. However what I wanted to do, and what The Lord wanted for me seemed to be very different. I started investigating The Church at age 25 and upon saying a prayer and feeling that simple prayer being answered I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I not only had a Heavenly Father, but that He had heard my prayer and had answered it in a way that left me without any doubt of His existence. I'm not perfect, very far from it, but I know that through sincere repentance and hard work I can be better. My family means the world to me, and I know that through living the Gospel of Jesus Christ I can be a better father and husband, and knowing that I can spend time and all eternity with them as a family is every bit of encouragement that I need! The teaching of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints resonate so strongly with me, I love to listen to the words of our Prophet and when I do, they just seem to 'make sense' - I feel truly blessed to have the Church in my life and to know, really truly to-my-core know, that this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

One of the ways I get to live my faith is by helping at Church in my 'calling', I am really pleased to be able to teach Sunday School, and I find that I learn so much from spending that time with my fellow Saints. I get to visit families in my church ward, making sure that they are well and helping to serve them in any way that I can.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a revelation given as a series of instructions to the Prophet Joseph Smith. It deals with not only certain substances such as tea and coffee, which we don't drink, but also helps us to remember other important principles about the safe-guarding of our bodies. SImple principles such as not eating too much, getting adequate sleep and staying away from alcohol help us to look after the one body that we are given. Because it is given by The Lord is it unchanging, it has stood for nearly 200 years and is a wonderfully simple way for us to show our faith. Show more Show less
