Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a mum, a photographer and a Mormon

About Me

I'm a university graduate with a degree in English Literature, not because it was useful in my life at all but because I loved it! Now my creativity has turned me towards working as a photographer. I'm also mummy to the two best children in the world and married to the most wonderful man. I love making things and will try any new craft - although as yet I'm still master of none!

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon was part of my childhood, I was baptized when I was 8 and have always been taught according to that faith. When I was about 12 years old we drove a couple of missionaries home after having dinner together, they got out of the car when we pulled up outside their flat and while one of them was talking to my mum the other leaned into the window a little where I sat and said to me "Do you have your own testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon?" I was shocked. Because I didn't and I hadn't even realised. I knew my mum and dad believed it to be a book of scripture, I had heard many other people share their belief of it as divinely revealed doctrine, but I had never actually asked God myself. So I asked in prayer. And I felt happy and warm and good. And I knew that the Book of Mormon contains truth from my Heavenly Father. And that is how I've worked from then on. I think about something, study, try it out and pray and receive my own witness of truth. I love being part of a faith that encourages questions and personal understanding. I know my faith will continue to grow throughout my life and I continue to pray, study and make good choices.

How I live my faith

I'm lucky enough to use my talent and love for music in my local area by teaching music to the children from 18 months old to 12 years old and by directing a choir for all ages. I find singing to be a powerful way to teach good principles. As we sing about our Saviour I feel peace and love and when the children sing "I am a Child of God" I feel that special witness that I am a child of God too.
