Hi I'm Julie

I grew up in London, England, now live in Yorkshire, am a mother to 3 wonderful children and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read and go for walks in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. I am a taxi driver for my children but love the chance it gives me to get to know their friends. I love to travel and have travelled to many places in the world - my goal for this year is to go to a Ski jumping competition in Norway!! I work with 14-16 year olds and love it - I think that teenagers today are much better than we give them credit for.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Letter-Day Saints when I was 13 years old. 2 missionaries knocked on our door and invited us to church. Joining the church meant a huge change for my family. My dad had always played sport on a Sunday and gave that up to go to church. We had been a close family before but joining the church brought us even closer and created a bond that hadn't been there before. Knowing that we would be a family forever changes the way you think about each other. We moved to the USA when I was 16 and my family moved back to England after a couple of years leaving me behind at university. That was when I really had to rely on my faith and my Heavenly Father because I was a long was from home and family and on my own. My testimony increased as I felt my Heavenly Father's love and protection. My love of God increased even more when I went to be a missionary in Japan. I loved serving the Japanese people although it was a very different culture from what I was used to and it wasn't always easy. Seeing the changes that the Gospel made to peoples' lives was amazing. I am a Mormon because my faith and beliefs give me direction in an uncertain world and help me to understand that this life is only part of my eternal life. It helps me to put things into perspective and the knowledge that I have a Father in Heaven who knows me personally and loves me helps me to get through even the hardest times.

How I live my faith

I love my faith and the comfort and direction it gives to my life. I am currently an early morning Seminary teacher which means that each weekday morning, I get together with several very sleepy teenagers to study the scriptures and learn about the Gospel. It sends them out into the world each day with that little bit of extra spirit and protection to get them through. I am a visiting teacher and a mother which is probably my greatest and hardest calling!
