Hi I'm Alexa

I am from Northern California. I am a college student majoring in psychology with a minor in business. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from California, and have the hippie tendencies to prove it. I love recycling and doing what I can to take care of the environment. I am working to become more athletic by running and practicing yoga. I am a vegetarian and I love to cook. I don't usually have much time between school and work, but I eat lots of fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and beans. I have a terrible sweet tooth, and crave chocolate daily. I love to read and hang out with my roommates. I attend college and am surrounded with wonderful people everyday. I love to learn, and even though I struggle to be a good student, I am grateful for my opportunity to be a student. I learn so much from my professors, and walk home puzzling through the exciting knowledge I learned that day. I am single, but I am working to be the best version of myself, so that I can be a diligent wife and mother. I like to meet new people, and I care so deeply about others. I love talking to other people and being a part of their lives. I am planning to work in business, hopefully somewhere I can utilize my love for people.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I love Jesus Christ with every fiber of my being. He is the only thing that gets me through my day. Relying on Him makes everyday bearable and worth living. He eradicates fear, and brings comfort. I have not always been a strong member of the church. I had to decide for myself that it was true. Through reading the scriptures, and meeting with the missionaries the Spirit touched my heart in a way that I had forgotten was possible. Life is really hard. We all face difficulties, no matter what they are. By relying on the Lord I have found peace that I never thought was possible. My constant struggles have value and meaning, and I have the motivation to push onward. Everyday I see more clearly the truth of this gospel, and I am so grateful. Every time I visit the temple, I know it is where I need to be. It is a holy place, and we are carefully watched over by a Father in Heaven. He cares for me individually. He cares for everyone. I can see those around me struggling, and I want them to understand how much they are loved. The Savior loves them so much, and both Him and the Father sacrificed so much for them. They want us to return to them, and they would never abandon us. If we reach out to them, and accept them into our lives, they can complete us. They can make us whole, and bring us great peace. They will accept whatever offering we have to give right now, and help us through everything we face. I know that this church is true because I have prayed about it. I know it is true because the Holy Spirit is with me, and there is no stronger feeling than the love of God. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I am so grateful for the Lord's love and guidance, and for the apostles and prophet on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I am a visiting teacher in my local ward. This is a humble calling, but it is one of the most fulfilling, personal, and meaningful things I do. I visit two girls every month and do everything that I can to serve them. I do my best to look after their well-being, and be their friends. I try to be a resource to them when they are struggling or need help in anyway. I also do my best to sustain my local leaders. They give so much time and energy to helping me and serving me. I do my best to help them in any way I can. I read my scriptures everyday, and it gives me the spiritual strength to face my challenges every day. My Heavenly Father is my best friend, and I do everything I can to strengthen that relationship. Some days it is particularly hard to remember, but He never gives up on me. He lifts me up, and I do my best to keep Him in my thoughts. I try to do His will by finding ways to serve those around me, and by being a more Christ-like individual. I often struggle with my habits and work ethic, particularly as a student. The better I become at managing my time and reducing my stress levels, the better I can serve people when the opportunity arises. Therefore, I am really working to always put scripture reading first, and to not procrastinate my responsibilities.
