Hi I'm Katie Jane

I am the oldest of six, champion movie quoter, an artist, thrift shop lover, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I'm a college student deciding which area of art I want to major it. I love beautiful things and am always stopping to take pictures of an interesting angle of a building or to remember the colors of the leaves on the ground when I'm walking home. I love stories and am an avid reader and a great fan of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, and a lot more. I love travel and since I've only lived in Utah, this has lit this desire pretty strongly in me. It's my dream to backpack through Europe and live in a different country sometime in my life. I am the oldest of six and have been a reluctant babysitter for them for most of my life, but it's taught me a lot even if I don't always want to admit it. I have so much fun with my family as we love to be outside and saying movie quotes to each other. My family recently has become the owners of a dog and I've discovered myself to be a newfound animal lover. I love being outside be it hiking or exploring big cities.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up in the Church my whole life and was always a go with the flow type of person. It wasn't till I was older around high school age when I finally figured out that I had had a testimony the whole time. I love having the guidance and direction that the Church has given my life and I know I would feel so lost and empty without it. I live the Gospel now because it makes me happy and I know that even if I don't know exactly where my future is headed, Heavenly Father does and he knows my potential and I want to reach it. I know I can't do that without him and I am so grateful for his help that he's offered me. I have had so many prayers answered in my life and whatever I ask for, I find that God gives them to me in way better and very different than I could have ever imagined. I'm coming to trust his guidance and it has led me to great happiness.

How I live my faith

I haven't had many callings yet, but hands down, my favorite has been teaching the three year old children (Sunbeams). It's pretty much the best, I mean where else can you teach gospel principles with play-doh and get to have snack time? Plus those kids taught me a lot when they weren't telling me "When I was a Baby..." stories. I am currently serving a mission for 18 months in New Jersey. I am incredibly excited to have the opportunity to spend all of my time in the service of the God who has done so much for me.
