Hi I'm Jonathon Mellor

Hi, I am 18 years old and have lived all my life in San Diego, CA. I am now on a mission in Las Vegas Nevada. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I come from a large family of 8. I have 4 younger sisters and 1 older brother. I am 18 years old and I am currently on a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission! I love to read and write my own novels. I am an eagle scout and have achieved my Duty to God Award in the LDS Church. I want to become a computer programmer and gain a degree in Computer Science.

Why I am a Mormon

Being born in the church i got used to how things went. However i was never truly converted until i had found out for myself that it was true. I read the Book of Mormon and the Bible and one day as i prayed i received what can only be described as elation. I have never felt so alive as i felt in that moment. In an instant i knew everything i had heard and everything i had read was true. I knew it without a doubt. I knew that those things i was feeling came from the Holy Spirit. The same spirit mentioned in the scriptures. The testifier of truth, it is called. Because of that experience and many simular ones i have come to know that this is the restored chruch. The true chruch of Christ. I know that this is the way God wants me to go and i will follow it. There is no doubt in my mind. I testifiy this in the name of my savior, Jesus Christ! Amen!

How I live my faith

Most people think that LDS people must do weird things to be a member or to be saved. This is not true. I live my faith simply by doing the things that God has commanded us to do through the scriptures and modern prophets. God is the same yesterday, today and forever and he will always give us scriptures and prophets. I know that the bible is correct so far as it is translated correctly. I know that the Book of Mormon is another word of God. I know that by doing the things that God asks I can return to live with him someday. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. That he held the priesthood and that he truly did restore Christ true church. I know that this is the only church in which we can obtain the highest glory of heaven and live with God. There is nothing in this world that i would take over Eternal life with God. I live my faith knowing the rewards i will obtain if i stay true to the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have felt God's love for me and i know that he will not lead me astray. This is God's will for me and i will follow it. I write all this in the Name of my Savior, My Redeemer, My Lord: Jesus Christ Amen.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Jonathon Mellor
Every Mormon is the same as normal people. We do not treat anyone different then another. God is the same way. God sees everyone for who they truly are and he judges everyone the same according to his laws. God loves everyone and so do we. We are normal people. The difference is we have direction and purpose. We know where we need to go and what we are supposed to do. We know the cost of Eternal Life with our Heavenly Father and what we need to do to get there. Because of this we are united in one purpose. We treat everyone the same way we would want to be treated. We love everyone as God loves us. This is our view! Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Jonathon Mellor
I have no question there is a God. Everything in the world attests that there is a God. I do not believe that this perfect world was created in a explosion. Just looking at space and all the lifeless planets attests to this fact. If this planet had been created by a random explosion then why aren't there more planets closer by that have sustained life? Every other planet is lifeless and dead and without water or an atmosphere that has breathable air. What does this tell us? That God created this world so that people could live on it and he put in the perfect place with the pefect rotation. Every detail denotes that there is a God and i know that there is a God. Because of experiences i have had and because i have felt God's love for me i know that he exists and that he loves each and everyone of us. He loves us so much to have created this world for us. I know this to be true. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Jonathon Mellor
The reason that only men hold the priesthood is because God made it that way. I believe that God gave women strengh in ways that men don't have. And to balence it out God gave men the responsiblity of the priesthood. Having the priesthood does not make us better then the women of the church or women anywhere. Men have been given the priesthood on conditions of God. We cannot receive the priesthood unless by someone holding the authority to give it. Just like in times of old God has called prophets giving them priesthood. In the same way God gave Joseph Smith the priesthood because none of the churchs had the priesthood anymore. I can trace my priesthood to Joseph Smith and then from him to God. This is what makes us different from all other Churches. Show more Show less
