Hi I'm Alec

I grew up in the lake district. I'm a student. I love making people laugh. I love singing. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm 22 and i love life. I'm an optimistic person that always tries to see bright side of things. I often laugh at moments that shouldn't be laughed in and i'm always looking for opportunities to make someone smile. I am currently a student at University. I study English Language and Linguistic and love it. I really enjoy studying about phonetics, especially the human vocal tract and how everything comes together to enable us to speak. I like to be around people. I like to be in the hustle and bustle of a busy day on a high street and take a step back and watch people go about their daily business. I served in the England London South Mission between August 2009 - August 2011. I thoroughly enjoyed it and loved meeting people from all over the world with different cultures, stories, backgrounds, troubles and dreams. I am so grateful for that opportunity that i had to bring peace to some of the people that i met. I have the most amazing and beautiful fiancee that i could have ever hoped for and i look forward to marrying her in a couple of months. We were introduced to each other by a good friend from my mission. She is a great influence on me and helps me to be the best that i can. The knowledge that i have that God is a loving Heavenly Father, has shaped me into who i am and what i do. I believe that 'what you do speaks so loud that i cannot hear what you say'. I always try to be happy, optimistic, helpful and who i know my Heavenly Father wants me to be.

Why I am a Mormon

Whilst growing up I attended church every week because that was what my family did. I had been taught about prayer and the book of Mormon and Jesus Christ and it all seemed to make sense. When I was 12 years old, things at home changed quite a bit. The circumstances made me want to pray and ask God if he was there and I did. I received an answer that night whilst on my knees, not only that God was there, but that he loved me and would always be there for me. However, there are many people that believe in God and are not Mormons. I had continued to go to church and always believed it. When I was 16 I really wanted to be sure and so I took it upon myself to re-read the Book of Mormon with a sincere desire to know if it was true. When I completed it, I then read once again about the experience of Joseph Smith. I thought for days about the experience that he said he had had ; to have seen God and Jesus Christ. I knelt down and asked God if that event really did occur. As I prayed I felt a powerful confirmation rush into my whole body and witness to me that it was true. I will never forget that day when I received the answer that it was true. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a wonderful way of life and we are taught to make the most of the opportunities that we have. The focus of our beliefs is Christ, and the importance of the family. These two things have shaped my life and will continue to do so.

How I live my faith

A month after returning home from my mission I was called to be the 2nd councillor on the bishopric. It was a little overwhelming at first. I have learned so much from this calling and I love to be able to help people in any way that I can. I think that the best way to live your faith is exactly that. To live by the standards that you believe and to live what you believe every day of the week. Of course we all make mistakes, but life is about continuing to try and try again.

In whom should we have faith?

Sometimes people think that Mormons are not Christians. However, i can assure you that we are. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is build upon the teachings of Jesus Christ and we have faith in him. We see him as our Saviour and Redeemer and know that it is only through him that we can return to live with God, and with those that we love. We also know that Jesus Christ has suffered all things so that we can overcome all things. I am grateful for my faith in him. I trust in him that things will always be worked out in the end.
