Hi I'm Daniel Ballif

I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to go backpacking. There isn't anything like getting out into the mountains and spending a night underneath the stars. Also, I love Hammocking (if that's actually a verb). I enjoy beekeeping, speaking Russian, and trying to learn other languages. Right Now, I am serving a full-time mission for the Church. I served for 8 Months in Donestk, Ukraine. However, due to some unrest in that part of the country, I was transferred to Kiev for a while, and then on to Irvine, California where I am now. I am one of the few lucky people that get to serve in so many of the best areas in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church. However, as I've grown, I have found that it is this church that truly brings me happiness. Every time I feel God's influence in my life or see it in others lives, I feel a joy that can only be known by experiencing it. This joy, this influence, is strongest as I continue to act on my faith. As I act on those things that the Spirit prompts me to do. Those steps of faith have strengthened my testimony of the truthfulness of this Gospel and have brought me closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ. I I know that if I ever make a mistake or need somebody, I can turn to Christ. I know that through his Atonement, I can become clean again. He is always there for us, and by following his perfect example, we are strengthened and lifted up.

How I live my faith

Right now, I have the opportunity to be serving a mission, spreading the Gospel to all that I come into contact with. My faith in Christ has led me to love everybody I come in contact with, from the Ukrainians and Russians I met in Donetsk to the surfers of Newport Beach. There is no better feeling than being an instrument in God's hands.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Daniel Ballif
Personally, I have found that if you want to grow closer to Jesus Christ and you are willing to work, it will happen. The most important steps are to pray and then to act. Prayer is a direct conversation with God. If you want to grow closer to Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, you will need to talk to them. Along with Prayer, read both ancient and modern scripture and follow the teachings found therein. As you strive to do these things, you will become closer to Christ. Then, as you apply the things that you have studied, as you experiment on the word, your faith will increase. Remember, while you are trying to live his commandments you will make mistakes. But don't worry, that is part of the process. Repentance is one of the most important principles of this life. While going through the repentance process, you will be able to feel God's eternal love for you and again that faith in Christ will be strengthened. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Daniel Ballif
Well, as I stated above, this Gospel makes me so happy. As I have come to know of its truthfulness, I have gained a desire to share it with others so that they can also experience this truthfulness. That is why we proselyte. We are trying to bring the same happiness and oppurtunities that we have to everyone that is willing to listen. Through the knowledge of Jesus Christ and his Atonement, I know that I can be forgiven of all of my sins. I have been able to use that atonement to get rid of any felings of guilt or sorrow that I have. We want people to be able to do that too. We want everybody to be able to live with God again through the power of Christ's Atonement. Show more Show less
