Hi I'm Shayla

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in and our of Foster Care and I was adopted into a wonderful LDS family when I was 16, I'm now the proud sister of seven younger siblings. I also found the gospel around the same time when I moved in with this family, and that has been the greatest blessing of my life. I'm fun loving, I love to sing, talk, and laugh. I believe there is always something to smile about. The gospel of Jesus Christ has changed my life, so I decided to dedicate 18 months of my life to share it with others!

Why I am a Mormon

This time 5 years ago I would have never thought I'd be where I am today. I grew up in and out of Child Protective Services, Foster Families and Group homes, etc. I have a younger sister who I always made my responsibility to keep happy and safe. When I was 6 my grandparents who take me to Jewish Worship with them but other than that I had no church experience what so ever. Heavenly Father blessed my sister and I incredibly, it was not a coincidence that we were placed in a LDS home. From the moment I met my mom and dad I knew something was different about them, they had the spirit. From the first Sunday I went to church I wanted to learn more and more, I had a hunger for knowledge. It wasn't long before my eight year old sister and I took the discussions and were baptized. It was an amazing experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Ever since then I've thought it my role to share the gospel with as many as will listen. I'm not perfect and I often don't share when I have the oppurtunity but I want everyone to feel the joy I have!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by smiling because there are always tender mercies to be found and happiness to embrace. Also by sharing the gospel with anyone and everyone who will listen to me!

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Shayla
We are frequently called Mormons because we believe in the Book of Mormon as the word of God. This book goes hand in hand with the Bible, as a second witness of Jesus Christ. Just because we believe in this book and strive to live the principles taught within, does not make us Mormons. Mormon was a prophet who compiled the Book of Mormon. Therefore calling us "Mormons" is wrong in all sense. We are not the ancient prophet Mormon, we are Latter-day Saints striving to live in harmony with this wonderful book that teaches the gospel of Jesus Christ, our Savior and redeemer.
