Hi I'm Rachael

I'm a citizen of the US and Canada. I have 5 boys and teach violin. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to be with my husband and kids. We enjoy traveling to visit our family in the States and also to visit family in Canada. I love to exercise and especially enjoy swimming and running. I love to read and enjoy blogging to journal interesting things that my sons do and say. I love to play my violin and have formed a trio with two other mothers. I also am blessed to be able to play in the local symphony. I love to teach the violin and enjoy it more each year. I love cooking and experimenting with different healthy foods. I love learning about ways to improve my habits and those of my family. I love to be outside with my family--running, biking, playing soccer, basketball, disc golf, swimming, and hiking. Now that my baby is 3, we plan to start camping more as well. My husband and I enjoy playing games together and getting together with friends. We enjoy getting to know our neighbors as couples and as a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into the LDS church. My testimony has continued to grow throughout my life. I love to study the Book of Mormon and feel the peace that it brings into my life. I am so grateful for living prophets and all of the things they teach us about how to improve our lives, gain more understanding of scriptures and doctrines taught in the Church, and how to be better in our relationships. I am grateful for the Holy Ghost, which teaches me and guides me every day of my life. I am thankful for my testimony of eternal families, and that there is more to our purpose than just this earth life. I am thankful for my past ancestors and their faithful lives and service, which have guided and strengthened my testimony and life. My parents and in-laws are wonderful people, and I have amazing siblings--all of which strengthen me and help me. I'm thankful for the strength of their testimonies. I'm married to a wonderful man who has a strong testimony. We are united in our purpose, and that is such a blessing. I have a testimony of the Priesthood. When our twins were born, they were very premature. I was afraid when they told me the babies were coming, but I had had a blessing already, and knew things would work out. I'm thankful for the peace that the Gospel brings, even when life is difficult and scary. I believe that Joseph Smith restored the true Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. I love Joseph Smith. I know he is a true prophet. I'm so grateful for all that he accomplished in his short life. I love my Savior. I know He loves me. I know He has made it possible for me to return to live with Him again. He is my best friend.

How I live my faith

Our family enjoys being friendly and open with neighbors. At Christmastime we went caroling to our neighbors and brought them a plate of treats. In our ward I teach and work with the women. I help plan and carry out activities that the women do--sometimes it is a meal we all enjoy together, other times we organize a service project to do in our community--such as a free clothing exchange, making hygiene bags and filling them for a local women's center, quilting, making frozen meals to take to new mothers, etc--other times we gather together to learn new skills. I enjoy teaching the women in the ward once every 3 months, and I also get to "visit teach" three sisters along with a companion. We basically visit these sisters and make sure they are doing all right and see if we can help them in any way, such as bringing them a meal, providing child care, etc, once a month.
