Hi I'm John David Harris

I grew up in Driggs, ID. I am a Mormon.and love my Savior Jesus Christ with all of my heart.

About Me

I work at the Idaho National Lab west of Ida o Falls for CH2M-Hill Washington Group Idaho in the management of radioactive and hazardous waste. I gew up in Teton Valley which is the valley on the west side of the Teton mountain range in Wyoming. I have two grown children and 4 grandsons and one granddaugher. I absolutely love outdoor activities such as hiking and telemark sking. I have done some climbing but it scares me to death. I did manage to accomplish one of my childhood goals to climb three of the Teton Peaks including the Grand. My current love is road cycling and most of my free time is spent on the bike, indoors in the winter and outside as soon as the weather permits. My current goal is to complete 10 Logan to Jackson (LOTOJA) 206 mile road races. With a completion this year (2013), I will have completed 8. I did not complete one year due to bad weather. Sister Harris runs the grandchild training and entertainment center and is professional shopper and is also my support crew on some at some of my bike races. We are both mormons and love our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ with all of our hearts. That knowlege has brought such joy to each of us and we have a desire to share that joy with all of God's children.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was baptized into the LDS church when I was 8 years olds. However it was not until I was 40 years old did I become converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This came as result of questions I had about where I came from, why I am here, and what happens when you die. As a result of my son and daughter serving full-time mission for the Lord I was introduced to the truths regarding the answers to these questions. At first I questioned my daughter about these truths. However she said to me, "Dad, I just know it is true". That very simple testimony penetrated me to my very soul. I had a desire to know more. What I discovered was my brother and my Savior Jesus Christ. I had no idea who he was and what he had done for me. I learned that God our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ appeared to the boy Prophet Joseph Smith and thru him restored his gospel to the earth. That story was so incredible to me, but what was more increidible is that without actually being there or seeing it happen, I know it happened. The Holy Ghost bore the truth of this vision to me. I can tell you that this happened to me, but until you feel it for yourself, I can't explain sufficiently this feeling. I also received this witness that there was and is a living Prophet on the earth today and he receives revelation from God revelant to his children on the earth this day. I first received this witness when President Howard Hunter was God's Prophet, but received the same witness with the Prophet that followed President Hinckley, and todays Prophet President Thomas S. Monson. I'm a Mormon because I love my Savior Jesus Christ with all my heart and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is his church on the earth this day and I choose to be one of his followers and diciples that I might know how to return to my Father in Heaven and be with my family forever. I am also a Mormon because of my testimony of the Book of Mormon. It testifies of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I currenlty serve as 1st councilor in a Bishopric in a Student Ward at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I also home teach three families in my Ward. I love to visit them and bring messgage into thier homes that they are loved and cared about. Previous to that calling I worked with the Young Men in my Ward and Stake. I taught lessons and helped organize activities that would help the young men obtain and build testimonies of Jesus Christ and have a desire to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.
