Hi I'm Johnny McMurray

I love the outdoors. I love to be active. I am a missionary from Boise Idaho serving in Melbourne Australia. I am a Mormon

About Me

My name is Johnny. Currently I am serving in the Australia Melbourne Mission. I am 18 years old and just graduated high school. During high school I did many activities. I was on the Swim Team, and was captain my senior year. I play the Alto Saxophone in my school Symphonic and Jazz bands, and was section leader this last year. I also did Snow Team where I was intermediate/expert ski (not snowboard). Along with this I enjoy playing tennis, frisbee, gatorball (a mix between soccer and basketball), and many other physical activities. Along with these I also did track for a few years. Sophomore I did Distance (the one mile race specifically) and Senior year I did Pole Vault, which I loved and wished I had started my freshman year. When I return home from my mission I will be attending BYU Provo. For the most part I am just an average kid-turned-adult who likes to hang out with friends, studies for school, likes to have fun, and likes to do a lot of things

Why I am a Mormon

I am member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or the Mormon Church, because I know and have faith that what I learn is true. I have read the Book of Mormon and I get a special feeling everytime I go to church that makes me want to go more. It is the Holy Spirit that I feel. I know that this church is true and that the Book of Mormon is truly another testament of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have always been active in the LDS church. My parents have always been members and have passed that on to me. At first I just followed them, but as I have gotten older I have come to church because I want to, not because they want me to. I have had various callings, or responsibilities, in the church. When I was 13 I became a Deacon's Quorum President, which means I was in charge of the 12-13 year old boys in my area. I also have been a Teacher's Quorum First Counselor, which means I help the President who is in charge of the 14-15 year old boys. I have also been a Priest Quorum 2nd and then 1st Assistant, which means I assisted the Bishop in helping and leading the 16-17 year old boys. Along with that I have been called as a Family History Consultant for the Youth, which basically means I help the youth in our area get started in Family History, and Genealogy work. Recently as I prepare for a Mission I have been actively studying and preparing for that. To help I was called to teach lessons to the adults in our church and have done that a few times. I try to be an example and always feel the light of the Gospel in my life
