Hi I'm McKell

I am a missionary, a student, and an artist. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Utah. I have two wonderful parents who have taught me so much in my life. I am the oldest to one younger brother and two younger sisters. As a child I struggled finding what I wanted to do with my life. I tried many different things. When I was 7 years old I auditioned for the play, "Tiny Tim's Christmas Carol" and was cast in the role of Scrooge. I had found my calling. Ever since that little show in a tiny community theatre, I have dedicated my life to the arts. I have done at least 3 shows a year since my first show and have continued to study theatre and the arts all through my life and even into college. Now I have decided to take off 18 months of my crazy life and serve a full-time mission. I have been called to serve in Honduras San Pedro Sula West mission and I cannot begin to express my enthusiasm in sharing this beautiful gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

People say that it is easier for a member to grow up in the church and stay a member. I was born and raised in the gospel and I can say that it was not easy. No one passes through life unscathed and untainted by the world. We live in the world, its impossible to avoid it. I will admit that there were definitely times in my life that I struggled to figure out who I am and what I believed. Isn't that one of the big questions in life? "Who am I?" I believe that this answer is constantly changing. That we discover who we are and change who we are by the experiences in our lives. I finally decided for myself that I was going to let this gospel define who I am, and because of that choice I can see more happiness, joy, love, confidence, humility, patience, growth, strength, hope, charity, and forgiveness in my life. Being a Mormon has brought nothing but good things into my life. I know that I will get to spend eternity with my family. I know that if I repent I will be forgiven of all my sins. I know that my Heavenly Father knows me and loves me. I am a Mormon because in this crazy world of trails, temptations, tests, and hardships, being a Mormon has brought me peace. I love my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I love this church and all that it has done for me. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by preparing myself each and everyday to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Honduras San Pedro Sula West mission. I prepare myself my diligently studying the Book of Mormon and the Bible each and everyday. I pray often to our Heavenly Father and strive to get to know Him and his son Jesus Christ. I attend our church meetings every Sunday and participate in all church events that I am able. I know that I am no where near perfect, but I try everyday to be a better person and learn from my mistakes. By being an active member of the theatre community I am constantly faced with choices that I have to make and decide for myself what kind of person do I want to be. Should I say that word? Should I wear that costume? Where do I stand on the important issues of today? I live my faith by making these choices with the guidance of the gospel in my life. It is very important to me to live my life and be me and do the things I love to do, but also keep my standards strong and unwavering in the face of temptation. By living my faith and keeping my standards I have found myself to be the most happy with the Lord by my side.
