Hi I'm Jared

I live in good ol' Missouri, I love byu, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a full time student at byu getting ready for a mission. Right now I like school and the wonderful learning that comes after all the homework. I enjoy reading books and have recently enjoyed reading fiction formatted like non-fiction. I love being active, whether it is my dance classes, an intramural team, or just a friendly morning run, that's for me. I like playing video games with roommates and with any friend that is cool enough to embrace my computer junkie-ness. I love my calling as a family home evening group leader. Some people hate planning activities every week that can be as lame as throwing a cabbage around like Ultimate Frisbee, but i love it. I guess I like any sort of responsibility that can get a group of people together that normally wouldn't interact and have fun activities that will build relationships and love.

Why I am a Mormon

I was first a Mormon because my family was, but throughout my life I have become a Mormon that could have a testimony no matter where I am. I think the reason for this was because through the building of my testimony I have felt true joy and lasting happiness from making good decisions, and its feuls me to make the right decisions even when its hard. I have gained a more long-term perspective from the teachings of the church, and I am able to do the things that will help me in the long run without being too discouraged. When I put hard work into the church through fulfilling my calling as a preisthood holder, I receive more blessing then I could imagine. These memories and experiences I have motivate me to continue to live my faith. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I think the most effective way to live your faith is to do it with other people. Living in Missouri I couldn't do that all the time when I went to a school when there was no other members in my grade all the way to high school. I did find, however, that I found good people that shared MOST of my beliefs. We were able to become friends, and even though we didn't go to the same church or agree on every moral subject, we never had to face the big temptations that many kids faced during middle school and high school. I was able to get really close to people who wanted to go through life clean from the things that many teenagers think are the only way to be cool. That's why I love this gospel, because it isn't a horrible, strict, greuling path, its a way to real happiness and real relationships. When you can have tons of fun doing the right things in life with the right people, you know in your heart that its the true path.
