Hi I'm Nathan

I'm married with 4 children. I'm a Chartered Structural Engineer. I love life and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I married my wife almost 12 years ago and we now have 4 wonderful children. I love my wife and each of my children, I'm amazed at how different they are and the wonderful things they do and say. My wife tries to teach them Swedish so they can talk to their Grandparents and cousins, sometimes things are not always understood but I'm learning. I studied at University to become a Structural Engineer and have since passed my Chartered exam. I found working full time, preparing for the exam and family life quite hectic, especially as we had a toddler running around. I now own a Consultancy, which brings its own challenges. I love sport, espeically football and golf. I've found that as I've got older the balance has moved from football to golf quite drastically. I enjoy the competition but mostly the cameraderie of being part of a team or group and working together. I also love to be outdoors in the fresh air and beauty thats around me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon home with wonderful parents who taught me the Gospel and took me to Church every week. However, there comes a time in everyones life when they have to decide for themselves. I was at University having recently moved out of home and with no intention of serving a mission. I still had friends attending Church who I grew up with and would meet regularly. After some time I accepted the invitation to read from the Book of Mormon and pray daily, along with an invitation to do a good deed for someone everyday. I recall praying the next day then reading from the Book of Mormon and I knew the book was from God, it testifies of our Saviour Jesus Christ and the Spirit of God bore witness to me that it was true. Since then reading the scriptures, praying and doing a good deed have shaped my life, hopefully in a way pleasing to my Father in Heaven and Saviour. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has taught me The Gospel of Jesus Christ which brings a true knowledge of who God and Jesus Christ are and my relationship to them. It has taught me how to be more Christlike and encourages me to be so. I feel uplifted by the Spirit from teachings we receive from living Prophets and Apostles. I love attending Church, I feel the Spirit there and it uplifts me for the week, there are so many great people there. I think being a Mormon helps me to be me, I know who I am, where I came from and where I'm going. It teaches me to love God and love my neighbour. It teaches me to keep the commendments. It teaches me how to find peace and joy. I love it.

How I live my faith

I like to think that my faith is such a part of me that it shows in the things I do. I try to be as happy as possible wherever I am. I hope that the people I meet feel uplifted by our conversation. I love to serve others. If I can help I will help. As with everything it should begin at home. I try to spend time with my wife and each of my children. We spend every Monday night together and have a Family Home Evening. We read from the Scriptures daily and pray together as a family. I know God lives and that he hears and answers our prayers. I served a mission for the Church for 2 years in Ireland when I was 20 years old. I was half way through my University degree, and like other missionaries gave up the things I loved and the comforts of home. It was the greatest thing I ever did, and is only eclipsed by getting married and my children. I am currently serving as the Bishop in the Ward I attend. I am responsible for the spiritual and temporal welfare of the members, helping each member in their efforts to follow the Saviour Jesus Christ. It is particularly rewarding when helping in times of need, either due to illness, loss of a loved one or changes in circumstance. When someone really needs, it's nice to be there to help. I also enjoy being with the Youth, they are fantastic to be around, so energetic and enthusiastic.
