Hi I'm Chris

I have lived and worked in 2 continents. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Aged 40. I am married with 3 children. I work for myself as an Independent Financial Adviser. I love to travel and explore new cities and cultures. Even though I have travelled far and wide, I still get excited with anticipation, like a child on Christmas eve when I am waiting in an airport departure lounge heading to a new place. I like to run, I have done a couple of marathons and plenty of half marathons in my time, some of my most memorable experiences have been wearing my trainers on a training run just enjoying the natural beauty of the world around me. Running helps to take my mind off the hectic and stressful aspects of life, clear my lungs and start the day feeling positive. I always wanted to live and work overseas and so I took the family and we went to live in New Zealand and stayed for nearly 7 years. This was a wonderful experience, living in a foreign city amongst so many different cultures. Happy memories last forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that the things of God can only be learned by the Spirit of God. This spirit teaches and confirms truth about God and his plan for us when we are willing to hear and listen. I was raised in a Mormon home, but there came a point in my life where I no longer wanted to blindly follow the things that I had been taught. I felt that I needed to discover for myself if the teachings, principals and commandments were of man or of God and so to took time to study, ponder and pray about the things I had been taught. I received powerful answers to my prayers, confirmation that the things I had been taught are true and from God. Since that experience as a teenage boy I have had many more experiences over the years at various times that different teachings and principles I have learned as a Mormon are from God.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in all I do, in the way I deal with my clients at work, the way I try to teach my children. I try to apply the principles and teachings that Jesus, the prophets and apostles have taught. I try to make time every day to study teachings of the modern and ancient prophets from the scriptures in private and with my family. I try to pray regularly to my Heavenly Father, I find this communication helps me to feel connected to Him. As an 18 year old I spent 2 years in Scotland as a missionary. This was an incredible experience. I learned to love teaching about God and his plan for us as his children. I loved bringing into the lives of those seeking answers to life's difficult questions the reality of the blessing to have modern prophets and apostles living on the earth today to help answer these difficult questions. Once a week, as a family we try to set aside one evening dedicated to 'family time' where we turn off the TV, don't plan other outside activities the home. We use this time to focus on a principle or teaching that may help us be closer as a family or strengthen our relationship with God. We also have fun and share treats. I currently have the privilege of being the minister within my local congregation. While I find this responsibility daunting, and don't feel particularly good at it, this does provide me the opportunity to share principles and teachings to those around me that have blessed me in my own life.
