Hi I'm Jessie

I'm serving a mission in South Carolina! I love taking naps, seeing new places, and trying new things! I love being a missionary:)

About Me

I love trying new things! Being outside is now my hobby; whether having a picnic, playing tennis, kayaking, backpacking, camping, hiking, biking, playing tennis, I just love being outdoors! I just finished up my Associates and plan to obtain a Bachelors in Business. I could be on the beach all day, no matter on the East or West Coast. Traveling and going on new adventures with my family ees de besst! Being around my family and friends is when I am most happy. I love listening to others, and am happy to be an ear when anyone needs to talk or needs a friend. I hate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, am pro at taking naps and speed walking. I have served Special Needs for the past four years and it is a huge blessing in my life. I am so grateful for the sweet spirits I have been able to serve and the friends I have made through it. I enjoy talking to strangers all day as a missionary and learning what it is like to love like the Savior loves. I love the Book of Mormon. It has changed my life forever. I love learning what God has in store for me and how I can become closer to Him. The Book of Mormon and Bible are part of who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents taught me the gospel and I attended church my whole life. I didn't decide to be a member because my family members are. I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ restored His gospel on to the earth today through a Prophet Joseph Smith.I know that it is true because the Holy Ghost has testified that it is. I know that the Lord has spoken to me and continues to do so. I cannot deny it and I love it! The Lord loves and blesses His children. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered every single one of our sins, pains, weaknesses and sorrows, so that we can live with Him again if we follow in His footsteps. "Draw nearer unto me, and I will draw nearer unto you". I know that promise will come true if you truly study out for yourself if it is His church. God answers our prayers, He listens to us, and loves us. When I live the way the Lord asks me to I am truly happy! God loves everyone of us! He wants you to be happy, He is waiting for you to come unto Him so that He can give you the blessings He has in store for you. He knows what you are going through, and you can rely on Him. I know that Families can be together Forever. I know that Heavenly Father hears our prayers, and answers them through the Holy Ghost. I know this because I have felt His answers in my life. I love the direction, guidance, peace and happiness the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints brings me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving my Lord. I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the next 18 months of my life. I left my family, friends, education and occupation at home for the next 18 months so that I can serve the Lord and the people in the area that I am serving. I love to help others! I feel I best serve others by being a listening ear. It makes me so happy to know that I can make a difference by being someone others can rely on and knowing that they can trust me. I may not be the best at giving advice, but I love to be someone others know that they can talk to. I live my faith by praying to God, knowing that he hears my prayers and that he answers them. I also live my faith by reading the scriptures everyday, because they are the words of God and by reading them, I feel of Gods love for me. I have participated in my church in the past by being a visiting teacher and a special needs friend. A visiting teacher is one who visits other women in the ward, offering our sevice and sharing a message of God's love for them. A special needs friend is where once a week I spent time with a girl who had down syndrome ( who I love with all of my heart and is one of my dear friends) and brought her to activities put on for the special need members of the church. I took care of her and learned of God's love for her. She is one of the biggest blessings in my life.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Jessie
We believe that grace is the help and strength given through Jesus Christ suffering for our sins. In the Book of Mormon it says "...for we know that it is by grace we are saved after all we can do" (2 Nephi 25:23) After ALL we can do. We need to be continually working on our faith and repenting of our sins, which enables grace to strengthen us. An analogy I love is if you set the goal to lose weight, you can pay for a membership at a gym. Just because you spent the money for the unlimited membership, does not guarantee you will lose any weight. In order to become in better shape you have to be willing to go to the gym, practice and exercise. If we relate this to Christ, Christ has paid for our membership but in order for him to help us 'relieve the weight' of sin we need to be do everything in our power to change and become better. I know that as I have learned to exercise my faith and repent daily, I have felt of God's grace in my life. Show more Show less
