Hi I'm Amanda Funke

I'm a student, dancer, photographer, political scientist and a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student, dancer, photographer, political scientist, musician, writer, reader, daughter, sister, friend and a Mormon. I was blessed enough to be born into this church, I'm not lost in the world and can be a light to those around me. The gospel has helped me through many things in life and will as I continue to have and apply faith.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but I went through my own conversion, as all do, to have that testimony of their own. I read the Book of Mormon while going through getting diagnosed with a chronic pain disorder. I first gained my testimony and was converted at the age of 10 because I knew that the only way to get through the pain was through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the atonement He did in the Garden of Gethsemane for the world. Throughout the years I gained the knowledge and testimony of the restoration of the gospel of Joseph Smith, of the truth of the restored church, of the commandment of God and that if we follow those commandments we can live with our families for eternity. Keeping these commandments is a true blessing in my life, keeping me on the right path, keeping me safe. I keep strengthening my testimony of the gospel everyday, reading the scriptures, praying to my Father in Heaven, attending my church meetings and fulfilling my callings and doing all that the Lord asks of me. This gospel is a true blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father and stand as a witness of Him at all times. I rely on my faith to get through the hardest of times. I live my faith, I live my life as an example to others around me.

What is the First Vision?

Amanda Funke
The First Vision occurred when the boy Joseph Smith was trying to decide what church he should attend, for all the ones at that time taught different things. He read the scripture James 1:5 that says "If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him". Joseph did so. In the Spring of 1820 he went into what is now called the Sacred Grove and prayed. He later wrote an account of what happened. “When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” Joseph was told to join none of the churches that existed at that time as the priesthood authority and Church as Jesus Christ had organized it when He was on the earth had been lost over the centuries. The First Vision was the start of the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Amanda Funke
The Book of Mormon is another testimony of Jesus Christ. It contains the writings of the ancient prophets that were called of God, on the American continent. The Book of Mormon contains teachings of Christ and a testimony of Him, the Atonement and His love. It reaffirms and adds to the Bible. At the end of the Book of Mormon there is Moroni's promise. That says that those who read the Book of Mormon and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true. Show more Show less
