Hi I'm Andy Sorensen

I grew up in Salt Lake City. I love golf, tennis and basketball. I am a missionary in Ft. Laud. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Andy and I am a big sports fan. I enjoy playing golf, tennis, and basketball. I currently attend the college here in SLC. A defining experience in my life came in 2011 when I went to India on a service trip to teach English to children in poverty. I am a committed member of the LDS church and while my mission call is for Argentina Buenos Aires North, I am currently serving my mission in the Florida, Ft. Lauderdale Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church all my life and while I had a good feeling about the church growing up, I was mostly going because my parents and family went. More recently, as I prepared to become an Elder and prepared to turn in my mission papers, I tried to read the scriptures more and recognize blessings in my life. I have felt the spirit so strong recently, as I have been seeking it and inviting it into my life. I've come to know through reading the scriptures and serving a mission that Christ is our Savior and that He truly suffered for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane. I've come to know through reading the Book of Mormon that Joseph Smith was a true prophet on this earth and that the Book of Mormon is full of pure doctrine. I have come to feel our Heavenly Father's love as I have prayed and recognized the many blessings in my life. I know this church is true and I testify that when one prays, reads the scriptures, and tries to live the gospel everyday, he or she will know that the LDS church is the only true church, will feel the love of our Heavenly Father, and will feel happier than ever.

How I live my faith

Currently I am an Elder preparing for a mission and I am mostly just trying to learn as much as possible before I leave for Argentina. I love home-teaching as the families I teach are awesome and they are great people and we have become great friends.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Andy Sorensen
We have been taught to spread the gospel by our church leaders and even by Christ who told His disciples to "teach all nations." I am going to be a missionary soon and I want to proselyte because as I have tried to live by our church's standards, I have felt the Spirit and I have sincerely felt happy. I want to share that happiness with others and I want to help others feel that way as well. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Andy Sorensen
Families are always there for you and it is important to love family members and help them out. Families are essential to our Heavenly Father's plan as temple marriage can help a family return to our Heavenly Father and live in His presence for all eternity. Show more Show less
