Hi I'm Aaron

I was born and raised in a Mormon family. I am a Police Constable for Wiltshire Constabulary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the eldest of 5 Children. I have served a two year mission for the church from 2002 - 2004 and I am now a husband and a father of 1.5 children as the second is due in June 2013. I have had many paths of employment from retail to fitness. I am currently training as a Police Constable for Wiltshire Police and hope to be ready for duty in July 2013. I enjoy spending time with my family, playing the guitar (both 6-string and bass) and try to keep in good shape by attending the gym when I find time.

Why I am a Mormon

As I have been born and raised a Mormon many have stated that I am not here by choice. It is very much to the contrary. Although I am thankful for the up-bringing that I have had I have made a conscious choice to be a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. I have felt the influence of the Spirit of the Lord throughout my life and hold many of these experiences close to my heart. I have felt the love of a Father in Heaven especially in the darkest trials of my life. One of the biggest trials or tests of my life was the birth of my son. He was born via an emergency procedure. One where I was not permitted, at first, in to the operating theatre. Whilst I saw my wife being wheeled in to the theatre I pleaded with the Lord to watch over both her and the baby. At first I was angry at the possibility of losing them but my mindset changed as I felt a calming influence come over me. I knew then that everything would be alright. It is through many experiences like the one above that attribute to me being able to state that I know God lives. He is aware of us and He loves us and wants us to be happy. I know we can only find true happiness in and through the teachings of His son Jesus Christ which are contained in their fullness in His church, the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. This gospel has blessed my life and I hope by living it I too can bless the lives of those around me.

How I live my faith

I currently hold the responsibility of looking after the spiritual and physical welfare of a selection of males aged 18+ within our local congregation. This gives me great opportunity to give service and help those around me. I also have the privilege of being able to go out to visit a handful of families, within our congregation, once a month to provide them with support and guidance. I try to incorporate my faith in all I do as it is my faith that defines me.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Aaron
Our Church services last 3 hours and are split in to three 1 hour sections consisting of: 1. Specific services for woman, men and children of the congregation. 2. Sunday school services that focus on the teachings from the scriptures; Book of Mormon, Holy Bible, Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of great price. 3. Sacrament meeting (communion) where we partake of the bread and water, give Prayer and sing hymns and hear from members of the congregation that have been assigned to speak. Anyone is welcome in to our chapels and come worship alongside us. There is never a need to wait for an invitation we would always welcome anyone who walked in the doors to one of our buildings.
