Hi I'm Janet

I am a wife and mother. I work as a School Office Manager and foster carer. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My first responsibility is as a wife and mother. I have 3 children one of which is adopted and we currently foster a 4th child. After many years of my husband working long hours in a very stressful job we made the decision for him to leave his job and become the main foster carer whilst I work as a school office manager. Most of my time revolves around the family, home, work and service in the church but when I get spare time I love going to the theater and cinema. I also enjoy baking, family history research and doing any kinds of craft projects. My latest past time is pinterest and following through on ideas gathered there.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents were members when I was born so I have been raised in the church and taught the principles and doctrines from a very early age. This was not a fore gone conclusion that I would have a testimony of its truth and as a teenager I did my fair share of 'questioning' and testing my parents boundaries. But as I reach my late teens I had begun to develop what was to become a strong conviction that this gospel was true. I did not have one defining moment that gave me the testimony I have today but a serious of many experiences, years of obedience to its teachings and sacrifices as I served others. I know I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and cared for me that He sent His son to earth to pay the price for my sins so that one day through Jesus Christ's atonement I can return to live with my Heavenly Father and my family again. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He translated The Book of Mormon which is a second testament of Jesus Christ and a record of the people in America. I am also grateful to have the knowledge that we have a living prophet on the earth today who leads this church and guides its people in these latter days.

How I live my faith

As I grew up in the church most of my family are members. Being a member of this church is a hugely important part of mine and my husbands life and we have tried to teach our children its doctrines and principles. Our eldest son has served an honourable full time mission in Russia for the church. I have had many callings and responsibilities over the years but I currently serve as the president of the primary organisation (children aged 18 months to 12 years). I love being with the children and teaching them the gospel. They come out with such gems and have lovely singing voices. My Sundays are always filled with lots of fun and I feel honoured to work with such precious children. I love working with the other primary teachers and leaders too who are all so dedicated to their individual responsibilities. I am also a visiting teacher to 3 other female members and value the friendships I have with those that I visit and teach.
