Hi I'm Susan Nelson

I am a gardener. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a lover of the small things! I find joy in gardening and appreciating God's beautiful creations. After a year of college studying biology and horticulture I am serving as a full-time missionary. There is no place I would rather be! I dream of being a mom, growing the neighborhood's prettiest flowers, and making a difference in the lives of people around me. But for now I am happily serving the Lord and sharing the gospel which has brought me so much peace and joy!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by wonderful parents who taught me to make righteous decisions and follow the Savior. As a teenager I always heard leaders and teachers say that the Holy Ghost had told them that the Church was true, that the Book of Mormon is from God, and that Joseph Smith is a prophet. I decided to read the Book of Mormon for myself and see what the big deal was. That decision marked a turning point in my life. Soon I realized that reading the scriptures and praying each day was changing me. I was happier, kinder, and I recognized the hand of God in my life in small and simple ways. In my heart I felt the deep love that Heavenly Father has for me. I am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is true. It is holy scripture that God preserved to come forth in these last days to stand as a second witness alongside the Bible. Through heartfelt prayer I have received a witness from the Holy Ghost that the true Church and Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored through a prophet named Joseph Smith. I know that this church is directed by a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who is led by our Savior Jesus Christ today.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a missionary I get to spend each day sharing the joy of Christ's Gospel with Heavenly Father's children! I love meeting new people and inviting them to find out for themselves that Jesus Christ has restored His true church on the earth today through a living prophet.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Susan Nelson
One of the ways that I have come to know my Heavenly Father is by seeing the magnificent world He created for us to live in. He gave us a brilliant blue sky, colorful plants and animals. He gave us cool, green forests and hot, stunning deserts. Everywhere I go, I marvel at the beauty of the earth. God loves us so much that He surrounds us every day with signs of His existence. Everything in nature testifies of a supreme Creator. Often when I am having a bad day and feeling down on myself, I am reminded of God's love for me through a breathtaking sunset, the cheerful song of a bird, or even by the intricacy of a tiny snowflake on my sleeve. Most of all, I have come to know God through prayer. I can talk with Him and He listens. He sends me feelings of peace and love in return. As I read the scriptures I learn more about who God is and how He influences our lives. When I obey God's commandments, I am blessed with further reassurances that He lives and loves me. It has changed my life to know He is there and that He answers my prayers! Show more Show less
