Hi I'm Shane

I grew up in Alberta, Canada. I'm an athlete and sports fan. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently a missionary in the Canada Winnipeg Mission and for the next two years my purpose will be to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. I love being social and I love almost all sports, recreational activities and being outdoors, which include biking, snowboarding, camping, spelunking, swimming, weight lifting etc. During High School I was able to play on the 4A Volleyball, Basketball, and Rugby teams. Sports were the only reason I really liked going to school and some of my most memorable memories come from my experiences playing sports. Such as in grade 11 where my team went undefeated in Volleyball to repeat the winning the City Championship, and where my Rugby team also went undefeated and won the zone Championship once again and then went on to win the gold medal at Provincials to complete a perfect season! After my mission I plan on going back to college were I hope to be able to play on either a volleyball team or a rugby team but most importantly where I will pursue earning a degree in Law and becoming a Lawyer one day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church and have always tried to live by and believe in its teachings. I have always thought that what was taught was good and I had somewhat of a testimony of its truth. However that testimony was based mostly off the testimonies of family and friends. I didn't always live the Gospel standards and follow all of the teachings of the Church as I knew that I should have, I went to church every Sunday, but I never fully lived what was taught. It wasn't until I came to the point in my life where I was searching for more direction that I turned to our Heavenly Father and earnestly prayed to Him to reveal unto me what I should do. He answered me by expressing His love, and helped remind me of the things I had been taught; some of His commandments I wasn't fully keeping. Commandments which I knew and had witnessed bless many people's lives by keeping. It was then that I took this reminder to heart and moreover made it my goal to strive to live these Commandments more fully. As I did so all things in my life started to become more clear! I was overall just more happy! I found myself to be anxiously praying and reading the scriptures more! As I more fully kept all of God's commandments and furthermore through Christ's Atonement I experienced a greater sense of joy. I came to know through much trial that this Church, truly is "Christ's Church!" The Holy Spirit witnessed these things to me! I am a Mormon because I know there is no way that ANYONE can be happier!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to set a good example by living what I believe! I try to help build up the community and those around me in all ways I can! I strive everyday to better myself by trying to become more like Christ in all I do in thought, and action! I found as I try to live my faith and accomplish these things, that I find the most success and can be best accomplished by helping and serving others! As a member of the Church I have been able to serve in callings in my branch as a family home evening coordinator where I was able to help plan branch activities and family home evening activities. I also was able to serve as a Sunday school teacher where I was able to study, prepare and teach classes in both Gospel Principles, and Gospel Doctrines classes which take place every Sunday! At this present time I live my faith by being a full-time missionary, a representative of Jesus Christ for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I live my faith by proclaiming to all I see that our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ live, that are mindful of all of us, that they truly love all mankind! As a missionary I have had the privilege of being a witness of so many miracles, and have seen many people come closer to Christ. I live my faith by serving others and helping/guiding them to find the truth for themselves. I have never been happier in my life and never have had more joy from living Christ's gospel and helping others come to know these things too!
