Hi I'm Angela Sweeney

I live in South Wales in Britain. I'm a Mormon. I was baptised into the LDS Church in 1976

About Me

I love swimming and travelling to other countries, particularly USA, and have been there many times. I took early retirement from work, so am enjoying my leisure now. I worked from age 16 including 36 years in sales/customer service for a multi national UK company. I am single and enjoy going to music concerts. I enjoy tracing my family ancestors.

Why I am a Mormon

I first heard about The Church Of Jesus Christ from the Osmond family. I was, and still am a firm follower of this multi talented musical family. In interviews they talked of how much their family meant to them, and how their faith was a way of life, not just 1 hour on a Sunday. They explained that they did not smoke, drink alcohol or take drugs. They talked of how they were an eternal family, not just together in this life. This appealed to me as my mother died when I was just 14 years old. I didn't have any brothers or sisters, just my Dad. I felt very alone. Family History is important to me, as I know that with the Church I can be together with all the members of my family who have gone on before me.

How I live my faith

I work in the Women's organisation in the LDS Church in my local area

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Angela Sweeney
I want to be with my extended family and ancestors in the next life. To do this I need to trace as many of them as possible, then go to a Temple and have them baptised and do other ordinances for them. My ancestors did not know about the Church, so cannot do anything from where they are. I can connect them all up together so we will be an Eternal family together for time and all eternity. Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Angela Sweeney
Jesus Christ organised his Church while he was on the earth. He explained to his Apostles what to do. Over centuries men changed the way Jesus had set up his Church, e.g, how baptism was performed and other ordinances. Joseph Smith restored the Church back to the way it had originally been organised by Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
